I played with fire today as well. Just in the fire pit though to cook some burgers for the wife and I. No better way to cook a burger than over a good wood fire. Also got tired of my foot slipping on the clutch and brake pedals in my truck when it’s wet at as the rubber pads have been gone for a long time. Got out the roll of grip tape as I call it and stuck some on there. Feet won’t be sliding anymore that’s for sure. Also used the stuff on my transmitter for when throwing DLG’s I don’t accidentally throw the transmitter as well.

The laser needed some more maintenance. My canopy dowels we’re getting worn pretty thin and the receptacle was very oblong.
Fabricated a plywood circle with the scroll saw, epoxied it in place, and filled in the existing hole with epoxy.
Drilled out the 5mm Wood dowels, and turned a Delrin rod down on the lathe that was a little bit larger in diameter. Scruffed it up and epoxied it in place.
Just waiting for it to all cure, then I’ll drill the hole for the delrin canopy pins.

Also found that my cowl ring was debonding so I used my left over epoxy.

Since that wasn’t enough, I found that my carbon spinner is developing a crack around the backplate.... hmmmm might be time for a new spinner.

Sometimes I just don’t know when to stop. Was stripping the covering to finish up the repair around the landing gear. Discovered a really bad repair and had no choice but to keep going. Oh well, when I’m done, it will be like brand new!

That’s good maintenance it shows that you are using your stuff and doing a lot of flying. The spinner backplate should not fail like that just bad manufacturing.

Yeah, that’s what I would think too. Solid epoxy doesn’t crack like that, let alone with carbon in it.

The repair isn’t exactly pretty, but works.

Should last a lot longer than the origional.

It’s fixed ready to go again and you cannot see it when the cowl is on and will never give you a problem again. Job well done, time to go flying.
