Scale Byron Glasair Build

Scratch resistance. The windows were already scratched, this kit is 30 years old, not sure how many owners there were along the way. When I bought the kit the windows were stuffed inside the fuselage, there was no box. I got the clear coat tip from Robert Godfrey many years ago.

Finished buffing today and decided to put the wings on to see what it looks like. Glued the stabilizer halves on tonight. I have graphics on the way from AeroGraphics, the Glasair logo and N numbers for the tail. AeroGraphics is a great resource for scale builds. I/m hoping to have the plane done for our June 22 fun fly.

The initial balance check indicated that all radio gear and batteries needed to be installed ahead of the CG point. I made these fiberglass tubes to hold the two 2200 ma Lipo batteries in place so that the batteries could be removed from the side window for charging. A plug was made out of scrap plywood, wrapped with wax paper, then wrapped with wetted 6 ounce cloth. I'm using a FrSky radio with a XPS A10 SBUS/PWM converter.

The Glasair made it to the Indiana Flyers Club 5th annual Summer Solstice fun fly today. Managed to get in there flights. Need to finish the dash and add the graphics. Doesn't like to slow down much and wheel landings are the norm. Does nice big loops and cuban eights, not much more but thats ok with me.
