Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Got a couple of deliveries yesterday, the white Ekoprime arrived and I sprayed a coat this morning, a little sanding with 320 and it will be ready for color. Also received a shipment from McMaster Carr, longer bolts for the prop and heavy hub, 200 1mm cotter pins ( already lost a few for flying wires!), aluminum disc to make the second hub cap, and springs for the tail wheel ( might need a slightly bigger diameter).
I need to put a transaxle in my daughter's car tomorrow so I don't expect to get any painting done so hopefully Friday or Saturday, weather looks better on Saturday. I got enough work to keep busy. I'm starting to feel good about finishing on time, can't wait to run the Roto 85FS.

In between coats, hopefully the next will be the last. Drying a little slow today, on the cooler side. Orange on Tuesday? Need to mask the wing for the N numbers. I had masked off the area where the orange section is at, never done it this way before, always painted the base color then the trim on top, hopefully I can follow the line without showing any white or large hump, we will see. Didn't want to add any more tail weight.

Got the final coat on.

Pulled the fine line tape off after after taking these photos, looks good not much bleed through. Ended up taking the fan out and cranking up the heat in the house to speed the drying.

Don't leave the tape on too long. Ask me how I know.

This took the better part of today minus a few hours watching my grandsons play soccer this afternoon. One more wing to go, then mask the fuselage and rudder.

Got a little tired of masking this morning, had two more numbers to do so I decided to assemble the tail wheel. It's all together with hex head bolts and all metal locking nuts. It's a porker but scale.

Got the second wing all masked off and ready for 7AC orange, also prepared the paint masks for use, picked all the letters and lines off the mask, no. 11 blade and tweezers. My grandson is here tomorrow so color on Tuesday.
