Yippee! What the postman brought

Took a ride and played postman today. Not that I NEED another project, but I couldn’t resist this one.
A few hours in the car up and back. Raining and dark when I arrived home, so I haven’t unloaded it yet.

Previous owner/builder did a very nice job. I’m one happy camper!
Top Flite kit - 1/5 scale Beechcraft Bonanza V35B, with interior kit.
Now I just need to find a set of retracts for it.

Another favorite of mine, had a SIg Bonanza in the late 80's, Como .60, Carl Goldberg retracts, flew very well. It was the first plane I built that had a foam wing, what a plane to start with! Thank God for the great instructions provided by Sig.
What are your plans for finishing?

I have a special fondness for one in particular which is the last one built. So the scheme is the easy part of the decision. As for the current status, the fuselage has a few neat tricks already applied. The ABS “canopy” was designed to be removable. However it’s glassed now. Cowling has been faired in, and attaches with hidden screws. I’ll take a few photos later today when I unload it.

Wing is framed and sheeted, but not glassed yet. Thinking it needs the RDS controls you’re using on the Cherokee for the ailerons and flaps. Would be a shame to see the control horns hanging out in the breeze. Perhaps lights also, with navigation, strobe and landing. Retracts are available from Robart as either air or electric activation.

Big decision is power. This one is perfectly sized for electric. Big wing at 81”, so a .60 sized outrunner should do nicely. Another option would be a small gasser like the DLE 20, but haven’t checked the dimensions to see if it will fit. Any recommendations?

There is a very detailed build on the universe kit building by a fellow named Vincent, check it out. I think he used a DLE 20 and had a custom exhaust made for it. At last report it has not flown yet.
Very nice scheme.

Taking a tip from @TonyHallo and wanting hidden servos on the TF Bonanza, I found these at I.R.F. Machine Works. The G2-RDS or Generation 2 Rotary Drive System - LINK HERE. This is a full set for the wings - two ailerons and two flaps. Another link with more details on the system - HERE.

I really like the idea of that. Wonder how it would work on a 3D plane? I wish I could use it but I have a 4mm aluminum rod down the center of my elevator and wings hinge lines so I would not be able to use it.

Unless?!? Just thought of a work around....

Great service by DA! Not so much by FedEx.
Box left AZ on the 31st and finally arrived today.

This is my ”New” DA. Long list of parts replaced including both pistons and all bearings.
Not a big 3D pilot, so no real changes from my normal flying style for break-in.
Feeling much better now, with peace of mind after the overhaul.
Looking forward to getting it back in the air, but might be a while, since I don’t do cold weather!
