    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

Just saw an old post on Rotec Radial's Facebook page from Steve Wolf were he said the Samson Mite is the same span as an S-1. Well an S-1 span is 17 foot 4 inches. Which means a full scale Samson would be 23 foot 1 inch.

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

I FOUND ONE!!!! Still don't have the specs, but I found a 3 view of Steve Wolf's Samson-mite which is a 3/4 scale Samson on Specialty Aero's Facebook page. It's a little rudimentary, but it's a start!

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

A few pictures of the Hostetler 1-11 I found awhile back on RCU. It's a great looking bird, but I'm not sure why the builder turned the Cabanes around as the 1-11's cross member is supposed to go aft not forward.

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

I have a set of Hostetler 1-11B plans for a someday project. It doesn't look like it would be too difficult to change it to 2 piece wings. I would like to put it on a serious diet and stick a 70cc up front. It wouldn't be a 3D power house, but it sure would be fun!

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

That thing is really gorgeous, but I'm a pretty staunch traditionalist when it comes to Stardusters. I love the Comanchee nose bowl, the bell bottom landing gear, and the old Cessna 182 wheel pants. So mine will look just like this,

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

Unfortunately, the reason I have yet to tackle a Samson is because I can't find any drawings or specs as a starting point. I would love to see someone find something, and get it posted so guys like me can steal it ;) I'll be starting another bipe build as soon as the Krier is flying, a giant...

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

I have a few, but you probably already found the same ones. The S1-T The S1-11B And the S-2S, which is the model Skip Stewart's "Prometheus" as well as Jason Newberg's "Viper" and the Wolf Pitts Pro all started out as. I actually started designing my own Modified S-2S that I was...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

Well while waiting on the regulator and switch to get here from Smart-Fly, I set about getting ready to test run the engine on the stand. After some playing around, I figured out how to use a spare Smart-Fly Pin and Flag switch for the Magneto ground. The RX will also have a Pin and Flag...

Welp, you can have it for some certain green pieces of paper! Lol I am going to sell the engine and power system separately, because I found some damage that needs to be addressed on the airframe, and figured with that, someone might be more inclined to buy it if it was empty and cheap.

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

Whoa crap, haven't posted for a few days!! Lol Hasn't been much to take pictures of though as I've just been getting the hinge pins in and all the hardware locked down. The last couple parts are in the mail, and really all that's left is to run the engine on the test stand, then bolted back...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

This evening I got the tail brace wires made. They are made out of 2-56 threaded rod, with Dubro steel clevises. I made the tabs from .032" aluminum. The tail brace wires on this model are functional, It would have taken a lot more structure in the tail to not need them.

Finally, I got my dad to do a little posing for me as he played the part of grampa's fellow club member holding the Krier back. For reference sake, here are those pictures. Grampa's, Mine, Grampa's Mine Dad just need's the cowboy hat and flannel shirt ;) And here's my ugly mug...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

It was so pretty outside this evening I couldn't help it, I had to take it out side for the first time and see it in sunlight. The clear coat on top of the doped fabric looks great, and my paint guy absolutely nailed the color match on the fiberglass. I still have some practice to do when it...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

I bolted the engine on for now (even though it needs to come back off) so I can get an Idea of weight and balance.......... FIFTEEN POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D Now I still need to put the muffler, tail brace wires, fuel tank and battery in it but I don't think that will even add...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

Quite a bit got accomplished the last 2 days. I bought some 1/8" shock cord awhile back to make my bungees out of, but ran across the problem of figuring out how to get the ends to hold together under the stretched load I needed for the Krier's landing gear. So the solution for now is Women's...

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

The blue icing is a little pricey but you get A LOOOOOT of it and you will be surprised how much easier is sands than resin and micro. The resin/micro mix is great if you need to build up thickness as it is really strong, but is sands about as good as a rock. The icing putty isn't as strong so...
