Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

I finally got the N number vinyl in the mail today and got them put on this afternoon. So now all the decals are done and the airframe is ready for clear coat! With the airframe ready for clear, it's also time to start getting the cowl and wheelpants ready to paint. So I started chasing out...

Here's where you can get a new one, they are really the best place to get parts for the Zenoah, US Engines, and Quadra type engines. http://www.bennettbuilt.com/shop/Engine_Accessories--BB_Spring_Starter_G38.html

After testing the clear over the flag decal I put on my test panel and everything turned out okay, this evening I put the decals on the airplane. I also ordered the N number, which will probably be here middle of next week. Once I have that on, I can set about shooting the clear coat on the...

Yes definitely! I used the clear decal paper. I've read about using the white paper to get white decals but seems like it would be a trick to get them trimmed close enough to not have a white border. Luckily, I don't have to deal with that this time :)

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

Practicing on small parts like you did is the best thing to do. Once you get the hang of it, it is really fun to do :)

On with decals! I first printed of my decal set onto normal computer paper, cut them out and tape them to the airplane to ensure I had them the correct size. After making some size adjustments and printing them off and checking them again I had them where I wanted them. The flag is going...

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, haven't done much to the Krier as life got in the way a bit. But I'm back on it with the final push to finish it. I should have pics tomorrow so stay tuned!

Biggest trick to glassing is getting enough resin on to fill the weave, without it being to thick which adds a ton on weight. I always have a bunch of credit card blanks on hand, and use them to spread the resin. They also help scrape off access resin, so your finished job is smooth, even and...

Thanks guys :) I was also able to whip up my own version of the shield that goes on the side in between the cabanes using Microsoft Publisher and a lot of patience lol. I toyed with changing the letters to something other than IMAA since the IMAA is now defunct but I couldn't do it. Grampa...

After a week of getting my @$$ kicked by the canopy I think I finally got it licked, and I have even more respect for grampa. I had a reference to look at, his airplane, he pulled the idea for the canopy out of his head! The trouble started with the windshield, I couldn't get flat stock to...

Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

Nice! What to the plans say to use for a bungee in the LG? I like 1/8" shock cord (para cord). It lasts aloooooot longer than rubber bands.

The canopy is slowly starting to take shape. It's quite nerve racking though, and is a bit slow going but its getting there. Once I have all the pieces made, I'll glue it all together with Formula 560 canopy glue (Zap's version of RC-56). And then make the frame out of striping tape.

Once I glue the instrument panel in the cockpit will be done. I think I've decided to go ahead and make the canopy and then mask it up when its time to shoot the clear. So I'll probably start that tomorrow night :) I broke out the testors model paint and painted the pilot. I cut some...

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Definitely will need to get a thread going for the stang when you get back to it. I enjoy following your builds :) I'm not even done and I've already started collecting stuff for the next build, it isn't anywhere near the undertaking your Mustang will be though!

Here's grampa's again, showing the seatback and the small piece I need to put on the headrest, as well as the goggles on the pilot. I'm pretty sure the piece on the headrest makes a seat to glue the canopy too. At least that's what mine is going to do ;)

So, while allowing the dope to gas off for a week or so before the clear, I figured I start working on some of the detail stuff. And I decided to start with the cockpit. I bought a J'tec 1/4 scale instrument kit a while back so first thing is the panel. I used a piece of 1/16" mahogany and...
