The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It’s nice having a buddy who owns a stump grinder and is willing to loan it out to me for free.

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

Thanks. I just finished doing some reading on a RCG thread and found the answers before checking back here. Looks as though the gimbals in it are the same as in a stock X7 so the hall effect gimbals for it should fit. Also seems there are no spare plugs but there are pads there for extra inputs...

Yeah my family was all redskins so I really had no choice either. Neither team has ever truly been good since they where bought by their current owners though.

Couple more questions for you on the Tarnis X9 Lite. I'm seriously considering it but I have concerns. First I love the feel of the M9 Hall Effect Gimbals I installed on my standard X9D, do you know if a hall effect gimbal will be an option on the Lite version? Also have you opened the radio up...

Last of the brush is piled up as well as the last load of firewood loaded in truck to take to a coworker tomorrow. Then managed to get all the logs over to one spot and up onto smaller cut offs so as not to sit directly on the ground. Hopefully I can get it processed in a couple weeks.

Lol. We have a good bit of oak in our area as well but not much hickory. I’m looking forward to using the cherry though. Reckon it needs to dry for about a year though.

No shop time yesterday though my wife may call it shop time as I slowly keep clearing this area and if we stay will eventually build a shop there. Needless though the trees there gotta go as two of them are sweet gum trees. The black cherry in the front is just in the way of the gums coming down...

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

Yup was looking at it there yesterday after you first mentioned it. I wonder if the M9 Hall Effect Gimbals will fit it as I love the way those feel in my X9D.

    IMAC Scratch build Laser 200

Thanks. Look at their list it seems only my two small parkflyer 4 channel receivers don't have the option to upgrade to the new firmware which would be easy enough to replace since the other 12 can be updated. Something to look into as I would like a smaller radio.

Looks nice. Whats the difference in compared to the old ACCST protocol? From reading product page it does seem older RX's need to have firmware updates done to work with it. I like the looks though as I preferred the feel of my smaller Futaba radio over my Taranis even though the Taranis won...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Yes. A glass tube would be better as it will flex more in a dork but carbon is fine.

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

3/8” spar is fine. I think I only have the doubler drawn out from R1 to R2 and I would still use it. When building a profile just remember not to overthink it. You want it light yet strong and I have learned a lot from the Probro sure on how to achieve just that.

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Basswood is fine. The last 20cc I scratch built I just found a nice straight grained 2x4 and ripped it down on table saw to proper size. Another option which is what I have done on the smaller glitter I built is this. Make the spar out of medium balsa. Rip it down the middle. Glue one half in...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

I used a 17 ounce on my dle55 powered sukhoi. I flew a 10 minute flight with a little under 1/4 tank left when landed.

I’m going out flying thread 2019

She flew this morning. Flew well but I already know I don’t like a 3 blade prop. Over all I liked it and it tumbled well but having the expo reversed on the elevator made it a bit touchy.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

While not exactly in my workshop the plan is for it to make it there. This one part of this black cherry tree has been leaning more and more every year. Part of it finally broke the other day so I decided it was time to cut the entire leaning portion down. The long portion will go to the mill in...

I recommend anyone with a spectrum transmitter to purchase a UMX timber. So much fun in a little package.
