1/2 fuse should shave off a lot of weight. Looks interesting.

Are you implying that you would use carbon instead of the ply, or do you mean just not use the ply - I realize I am confused :D

I would be surprised if a DLE 20 would "tote the mail" if the plane comes it around 9 lbs. Mine was 9.1lbs and to me the DLE did not do the job to my satisfaction. Just seemed way too weak for my style of flying. Even the 26cc isn't a rocket, yet it will do the job good enough for me. Certainly...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

It seems like unless you really scrutinize weight when building the plane comes out around 9 lbs, yet some say their is a lot lighter. They must shave everything down on it. If you use quality wood I am guessing the light weight goal is difficult to achieve.

Thanks for the info. My buddy put the 18x6 on his and it performs very nicely. Mine has started to get broken in now and a lot less gunk throwing about except when I am getting totally wild on the sticks and throwing crap everywhere. One thing helped is that I was able to lean er out a tad...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

You won't be sorry. The DA 120 is a beast when setup and tuned correctly! Sort of feels like a mini-rocket engine on the right planes :)

Same here - about a half tank per flight.

You are WAY too hard on those servos :D

So here is an update on the VV RCGF 26cc gas engine miss. This is unreal and several guys at the field were amazed at what was going on. So the only thing I had done to the plane before my last outing was put a small plastic extension on the exhaust down pipe to get some of the blather off the...

With some slight mods, this 110HP might fit:

I am sure they can get their hands on a larger engine :D

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

Appreciate the offer. It seems odd that they would leave the needles set, or at least don't want them touched unless absolutely needed. I guess they are thinking someone might get them way off and have more issues than needed. I usually like my planes fine tuned, although I get lazy and just let...

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

Thanks for giving us this update. My DA 120 surge is almost gone, but not entirely. It was really bad at first, much like you were actually moving the throttle stick. The only thing that has changed mine was leaning it out a tad at the time. My only concern is now that I don't really want to...

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

I know what you mean. Albeit small planes, one guy put in three planes yesterday and two sustained pretty bad damage. He cartwheeled a Sig 40 size 4 star (badly damaged), then he put in a high wing foamy (badly damaged), then he flipped and busted the prop on a slow-poke. Even after that he...

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

Have you flown the plane since you put the plate over the carb? I am curious if that made any difference in your mid-range surge.

Post your servo, receiver, and battery setups

I run JR and Futaba now. I used to run JR, Spektrum, and Futaba. No issues with any of them. I did have a battery go bad once on a plane and that was it. That was back in the day before the better chemistries really took hold. I switched over to A123 in my 30% stuff and smaller and even have...

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

I am curious if that thrust plate will work for the mid range surge. I have done that on some smaller planes and it worked. I have one DA 120 that has a mid-range surge, but DA never advised to put a plate on it and I just never got around to it. I am thinking now that I should at least go that...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

I am guessing right now I have about 25-30 flights on it so far and it has performed flawlessly, but the last time I flew it, it was missing in the mid-range area. It sounded so much like an ignition miss instead of an adjustment miss. It was very notable but erratic. I did not really do...
