The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Just a short while ago I talked to Rick on the phone and he said he is going to be at VABRO. Not sure I will make it because I am planning to go the Lynchburg airshow Saturday and see the Blue Angels. However plans may change. I think the last time the Blue Angels were in this area was 2011...

    Extreme Flight 104 Extra 300

Oh, I meant to ask. Does anyone know what size the ball joint ends are on this plane? I have some on my elevators that are worn really bad and I need to replace them. It is no problem for me to check, I was just wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head what they were.

    Extreme Flight 104 Extra 300

Not sure if I got it yet, but interesting enough I have adjusted the high end by leaning it out about an 1/8 of a turn each time and it has so much better. I could actually fly it yesterday in mid-range. I do still notice a little surge, but I am just changing it a small amount each time. I am...

Funtime Virginia Aeronuts June 4th Fly-in

I am in Amelia, VA. I fly with CVRC (Powhatan) and SVARC (Burkeville) with Ben Volgelgesang. I think he is a member at MVRCC. He said he is planning on coming on June 4th.

    Extreme Flight 104 Extra 300

Thanks for the update. That may be my issue as well. Certainly an easy enough fix and much cheaper than changing out cans.

Funtime Virginia Aeronuts June 4th Fly-in

Hey Rick, how is it going? Tried to send you a PM, but kept getting an error. Haven't seen you in a while since I haven't been to Powhatan in a long, long, time. You have to get out to Burkeville and spin some props with us :)

    Extreme Flight 104 Extra 300

I was wondering if you ever got your mid-range surge issue corrected with your DA 120 and exactly what you did to correct it? I have one that surges mid-range and you can only really fly it slow or fast. It is on an EF 104 Extra, two KS5 413 60 cans.

I have it blocked out on my calendar and definitely plan to be there this year should no emergency arise. I enjoyed the last fly-in I attended there. It was a great time with an enjoyable group of folks.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Nice setup. That 60 should tote the mail. I run a DLE 55, Savox servos, 2 2500 mah LiFes, tech-aero, etc., in my EF Extra 300. She is a doll baby too. That plane has always gotten some great comments and the DLE 55 is a solid runner and never fails to crank seemlessly.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

How is your Edge equipped? I thought about getting an EF edge 88" to round out my hangar especially since I got all the goodies keeping the bench warm waiting for an air frame. Problem is finding a used one is like hunting down chicken teeth. I have two EF Extras, one 104" and one 88" and a...

    Glassing and Painting techniques

Reminds me of sanding those dang dull car headlights! What grit you use on the aluminum spinner? 2000 or 3000 maybe?

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

A few of us went out because we had some work to do on the field and work to do on some planes. Although not all that windy, we had some rough gusty cross winds that made for some exciting landings. At times it was a tad difficult. We spent most of the time working on planes though. We had a...

Uh oh..watch out 3w and ZDZ

Following this on FG. Right now extremely pricey for the EFI add on. Yet, when is anything RC related on the economical side? :D Should make some of the standard prices drop over time. EFI has been around so long, I do wonder why the RC field has been so slow to adopt.
