The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Looks great! You don't have far to go now. Nice scheme and good striping job. I hated striping on my planes, but it does make the difference. Put some gravedigger decals on it. That would be sweet!

Discussion Federal Appeals Court: FAA Registration Rule violates Section 336

Knowing the FAA they will find other ways to put legislation on our model planes. Hopefully this turns out good, but in most cases things like this only lead to further ridiculous legislation. Gubmint likes to do it their way even if it makes no sense at all.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Yep, well put response. Respect is key. There are butt-faces on both sides that don't know what that means. :D We should try our best to get along with any and all rules and if some rules are crazy then get involved to get them changed for the better.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

There are always a few that want to dictate what they think is best for the whole group. If the club is large there should be a vote among members and not so much personal bias that controls it all. This is not to say we don't need controls in place, but over control is the problem. Good...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

As best we could tell it wound up around 2" behind the wing tube which I think is around 8 inches, but not positive on the exact distance. I am looking forward to flying this some more. It was much more fun than I had anticipated. I love the way it flips. Seems like it flips on the wing axis!

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

Took the Mojo out and maidened her yesterday evening. The plane only needed one click of down trim. That puppy was on the mark. Flew inverted hands off. I did have to add some weight to it just for the maiden and after flying it about six flights and getting her dialed in I think I will be fine...

IMAC PAU Extra Build 105" assembly

The feeling of a successful maiden is not easily explained, but one thing is for sure most guys are extremely happy and content when that occurs and now can come the flying time. I cannot imagine anyone that would not hope for a good maiden, unless of course they are try to destroy a plane for...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

Yeah, I have not been flying any at all as I have been doing some work around here. I have been smoking some time on the sim when I can. I may have to go as well. I don't mind the wind that much, but it looks like it is going to be a direct crosswind. If it is steady might not be bad, but that...

Discussion Best Aircraft for the 100cc Engines

A DA100 would probably do fine, but you have to have a plane that is in the right weight range to make it a 3D beast.

Discussion Best Aircraft for the 100cc Engines

I have a DA100 on a Hangar 9 Extra 260 (the older discontinued plane) and it flies sweet and true and is a lot of fun, however when it comes to performance it is not in the ballpark with the DA120 in the same size plane. Of the two, I would go DA120 class any day. I have a DA120 on my EF 104 and...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

Good information! I think that is right around where I am now so that will be good for the maiden flight. Once I get that out of the way and she how she handles, I will play around with relocating the weight if need be. It will be easy to move things back some. I was going out late yesterday to...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

We had crosswinds and patches of rain, even though the weather folks said no rain. It would be calm for a moment then boom the rain and winds would come. The temps were really nice though - a bit cool for this time of year.

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

Ok, made some headway and I think it will work. I took the engine and moved it one inch forward then I took the battery and moved it all the way to the front of the plane just under the engine mount area. Next I took the ignition and moved it closer to the front as I could get it. I put...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

So I played around with this plane some messing with weights and distribution. I had to add 11.5 ounces to get it to balance at around 7 3/4 - 8 inches. Moving the engine as far forward as possible makes about 1/4 inch difference on balance putting it closer to 7 3/4. Not nearly as much...

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

Yep, CAF sent me some pics of his battery placement and gave me some valuable info about balancing it. I fly with CAF at the CVRC Amelia and have seen his planes fly a number of times. He is good on the sticks and will put one through its paces. He says to get the Mojo 65 so it will fly...

If the 65 is the same, then I will be good to go on this plane because I can get it around that area.

    3D MOJO 65 w/20cc Build

OS are well built engines, yet no doubt pricey for that size engine at around 400. Once in a while you see a used one floating around for sale.
