Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

I've found the color combination that I plan to finish this plane in. Through the N number and the internet I have made contact with the owner and he has agreed to provide the correct colors the plane is painted in. He also offered other photos if needed. This is wonderful!

Have two of the three layers of 18 ounce cloth on and ran out of cloth. I guess that was poor planning on my part, I didn't account for flange area in the estimation. Ordered more yesterday so need to wait until it arrives to finish. Also ordered 2 yards of 40 ounce cloth to build up the flanges.

When going from the 14to the 18, do you need to build the model again or can you transfer the model?

Flying today at the Gypsy Moth club field, there were three guys that left as soon as I got here, all alone, little to no wind. Will upload video when I get home. The spark plug temps are a little closer and cooler. Leaves are gone on most of trees, building season is in full swing.

Quick update on the Super Cub. I managed to install spark plug temperature sensors the plugs, vey tight fit. Had to reduce the plug socket wall thickness down to .020" at the hex points, but they are in. I now have two sensors per cylinder. I hope to get out tomorrow and do a little flying...

Flipped it over and removed the parting boards. Need a few coats of wax now and the process will start all over. So far it's going as planned.

Put the third layer of 18 ounce cloth on and added a few plywood supports to the vertical fin. The back support will keep the mold level while doing the the layup. Added the front support just because, better to overkill rather than have the mold crack. Both are set in a bed of thickened...

You bet and it is a little boring work, every layer is another groundhog day! I need to sand the bumps down and get another layer on this morning, didn't get a second layer on yesterday, but in another day or so I can flip it over and start again

Yes for most of the day, others began to arrive around 1600 because we had our monthly meeting at 1800. I flew four flights alone.

Put the first 18 ounce layer on this morning, took about 2 hours, that 18 ounce cloth really soaks up the resin, mixed 240 grams twice plus 110 grams. Next layer will go on 30 degrees to the first.

Yes I read that as well. That was the rule for ever before we learned how to baffle, my Champ has more intake area than exhaust area but it works fine. It's more about making the cool air flow over the cylinders than around them. Could you image the hole required for 3 times the entrance area...

Just finished reviewing the telemetry logs from yesterday and it appears the right cylinder is waking up. The temperature difference was up to 100 on the early flights and was below 70 on the final flight. The right side is getting hotter and the it seems the left cooled slightly. The right...

The firewall is tightly fit to inside of the cowl for the most part, it acts as the barrier between the high and low pressure zones. The air enters the high pressure side cowl through the openings, around the air cleaner opening and the oil cooler opening (I need to make an air cleaner dome...

.56 ounce, .75 ounce, 2 ounce, 4 ounce. and two layers of 7 1/2 ounce glass cloth are on. Three 18 ounce layers to go. I may need to order more resin! Another day or so I can remove the parting boards and flip it over.

The firewall is the baffle between high pressure and low pressure. The high pressure side is exposed to the air inlets on the cowl. The low pressure sire exposed to the opening on the bottom of the cowl plus the cheeks on the side of the cowl. Air enters the cowl and passes the baffles to the...

I feel it is baffled well, using a similar technique on the Champ it runs very cool. It may simply be breaking in as you suggest, the first flights on the Champ were so short I would have not noted the problem.
