Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

One of my goals very long ago when I started flying was to be able to do a good slow roll, but back then I always sucked at them. I spent a lot of time a few years ago on the sim and at the field trying to get reasonably good at them. I think it teaches you a lot about airplane control. Being...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

A friend of mine was all hot for the Krill 120cc Ultimate until I told him the aileron servos are held in with two sided tape. It's great for something small, but to use it in a $2200 airframe with 400oz servos seems a bit too much.:oblong:

    Moki 250cc 40% Sukhoi SU-31

It would be cool if they made a radial around 250cc. The 420 is cool, but it's massive and weighs over 30 pounds.

Up, right, down, left, while rolling left. The timing is all about whatever it takes to keep the nose up. The higher the nose the slower it will roll. The sim is great for getting that down.

That's a Rolling Harrier. I'm pretty comfortable doing a normal Harrier fairly low, and make circuits around the field steering with the rudder, and I can do a Rolling Harrier, but not consistently so I do those up high for now, but I am slowly getting better. It all seems so easy on the sim...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

No, but if it's a edge bolt spinner it sure makes it easier to put the cone on when it's clocked right. :LOL_gif:

Sport Bud Nosen (!!!) 1/4 Scale Citabria Build! Woo hoo!

Build what makes you happy, it's as simple as that.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Good to know. I've noticed Pilot sure has been shrinking the acrobatic airplane line.

As the GSN unofficial wheel pant Nazi I agree, the look good.:)

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I've done business with Chief, and for the most part had good luck, but it sucks that their website doesn't tell you if something is in stock or not.

Sport Bud Nosen (!!!) 1/4 Scale Citabria Build! Woo hoo!

Because a clip wing would be more aerobatic.

    Awesome Video Thread

That's cool! But I'm an old school guy, so why not an airplane from the 30"s .;) The landing at 3:45 is really cool.

    1/4 scale P40 Warhawk

I built a Byron Corsair for a guy back in the day and the molded center section with plug in wings was a great feature.

A friend of mine that used to race Quickies told me one day that he knew it was time to clean the workbench when he had to set the airplane on a coffee can just to work on it.:)

I've been trying to do just that.;) It does fly well now. I wish it was three pounds lighter, and I could probably get two of that by getting rid of the canisters, but for some reason I just don't like the sound of stock mufflers at all. I guess it reminds me of the sound of badly tuned...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

There wasn't much activity at the field today considering it was a pretty nice day for August. My buddy Tony and I got a few flights in. I flew the Hangar 9 Extra with it's new prop, spinner and repaired cowl and gear cuff. I was also able to sand and polish out a bunch of scuffs and scratches...
