Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

I really hope that's the case, but my faith in the FAA took a dive when I had to fill out a form that said "Register My Drone" I don't own a drone, don't want a drone, and don't want to be lumped in with them.

I have to plumb a tank for a friend soon, and I've been wanting to try that. When I used to plumb the air system in turbine jets I used collars like that with great success.

I walked out the door today and got smacked in the face by the hot humid August in the Midwest weather............... IT'S OCTOBER 3RD!!!!

Along with our forecasted 94 degrees for tomorrow we're getting some pre rain wind as well. The forecast is for 19mph, which means 25 at least. So, today and tonight I busted it at work to get a bunch of painting done on a Mercedes I'm working on so I wouldn't have to deal with the dirt storm...

Like here where the forecast for tomorrow, October 3rd is 94 degrees. Someone please call Mother Nature and tell her this is fall, not late July! The high should be in the low 70's. Looks like the weekend is going to be a washout, but I guess we'll have to see if all the rain in the forecast...

Nice! Listening to a flock of them come around a pylon at speed at Reno is really cool.

It was another gorgeous day at the field today. Tony and I each put three flights in. With the cooler drier air my DA120 was really pulling hard. I put my firewall repair to the test with many Pop Tops, Knife Edge spins and a few Crankshafts, well as close as I can get to a proper Crankshaft...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I had a pair that I used to wear in the winter time that came from a friend that worked at GM. They were thin leather, sized, 10 1/2, and I have looked everywhere for replacements, no such luck. I used my new starting gloves at the field today, they're awesome. Just thick enough, but you can...

On the advice of a couple people I trust I'm running a 28 x 9 1/2 Falcon carbon fiber my DA120. It seems to be a good combination. A friend of mine had a Falcon 29 x 9 on his DA120 and it has horribly loud. Great for low and slow 3D, but ear splitting when wide open.

They're a little to thick and heavy for me, I like a little feel.

I always liked stuff called Goober Grape. Peanut butter with grape jelly mixed in.

Sorry I missed this earlier. There is a heat activated epoxy type sealant in the tube, so when you shrink it, it seals it from moisture. I bought it from Amazon, but it's available all over. Just look for marine heat shrink tubing.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I've been working on a little project the last few days. Anyone that's tried to use a video camera on a sunny day knows how hard the screen is to see in the brite light. I've tried a hood that shades the screen, but it's only marginally better. I saw a YouTube video where a guy made a...

New starting glove. This one is supposed to be more cut resistant. I'm hoping to find one that I like, that will make it through a whole flying season without wearing out.
