Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

My flying buddy Tony and I went flying two days in a row! The weather was less than awesome, but it didn't keep us from enjoying ourselves. He flew his big 200cc Sukhoi and I flew the Hangar 9 Extra 300X. We both got two in yesterday before the wind got so bad it was trying to blow the...

I've never used that servo, but Power Hobby has some good prices on Hitec servos. I bought all the servos for my 35% Extra 300X there on @stangflyer suggestion and the price was hard to beat. I think I bought them through their eBay store.

To give you an idea how well that works, the last Allstate picture estimate I had was a little over $500. Final repair costs were over $2000.

Those are some pretty amazing times, I can tell you no on at my club, and we have dozens of 80 to 90mm EDFs, is getting anywhere near that, even with the Avanti. My Mig has the 12 blade metal 80mm with an 1800 kv motor and it takes a 5000 6S down to 30 to 35% in 3 1/2 minutes.

He's never finished it. He's an older guy and unfortunately his skills are fading and he knows it. It was going to be electric.

In Illinois, a buy back from the insurance company does not get a salvage title. The title never leaves your possession. You could ask for what they call a contracted price to repair it. Basically you say I'll fix it for a set price so there is no supplements. They are more likely not to total...

I've had excellent luck with Pilot airplanes, as had my flying buddy Tony, but you never know until there out there.

Back in the ducted fan days my friend Tony and I were at the Superman Fan Fly in Metropolis Illinois which was a very popular event that all the big names showed up to. He had brought his new Bob Violett F-16 that we had unfortunately not been able to test fly before the event. Being young and...

The only reason I knew about the pink airplane is I painted a cowl for a Bud Nosen P-51 in that scheme for a club member who's son has flown the real one, along with several other really cool warbirds.

I don't know what it's like where you live, but here in Illinois you can buy back a total from the insurance company as long as it's at least 7 years old.
