Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

It's time!! I've been over the whole airframe about 6 million times, everything s crossed off the list. Time to start slingin' some Dope! First coat of Nitrate is on all the little parts.

I know right! They look exactly like a Sensenich right down to the emblem on the blade. It's not really scale on the Krier as the full scale had an Aeromatic prop, but it doesn't look out of place. Now I just need to get my dad's machinist friend to machine a little off of the prop hub to...

    Cool Fromeco, above and beyond!

I've been using solely Fromeco Batteries since I made the jump from Glow to Giant Scale 8 years ago and have never looked back. The batteries are awesome, and if taken care of will generally last longer than even Fromeco says they will. I have a pack that is 6 years old and still goes...

Covering goodies are here, minus the Red and White which will be from Aircraft Spruce. Have some sanding to do, then take it back apart and it will be ready to start brushing on some Nitrate. A generic bubble canopy, and some flat clear stock to make the canopy after she's covered...

That's a Sid Morgan Cub. My friend (the guy I built the Hurley Extra for) his dad started that back in the 70's and I'm going to cover it for him after we get the engine install figured out.

While she waits to be covered, I had to see it somewhere other than the build bench. It was too windy to go outside, I just took it out into the hanger It don't look outta place with my Ultimate :) That's my 100cc PAU Ultimate, the Krier definitely looks bigger than it really is lol

I found a High Voltage Savox that has more than enough torque for less money. I'm on a tight budget, so every penny counts :) The Pro Modelers are great but even the smaller servos were over kill for the Krier.

Well, I'm coming down the back stretch now! I have the cowl cut, the tail brace wire bottom bracket made, throttle push cable in, and I have spent god knows how many hours trying to come up with more things to do before covering and there just isn't much. So with just some sanding and small...

They are called Tinnerman 100 degree flush washers. You use them with a flush machine screw. Full scale airplanes use them all over the place on things like cowlings, inspection plates, fiberglass wingtips and tail cones, ect. ect. We get them from Aircraft Spruce, and they have 6, 8, and 10...

Nice!!! I see it shows a C.B tailwheel assembly, I found out the other day you can still buy those darn things! Lol But when you get to it, I recommend a the Sig tail wheel assembly, I really like the one on my Krier Kraft.

Tonight, I crossed finishing the cowl mounting off of the list. Dad and I got the nut plates riveted to the back side of the mounting arms and I drilled and counter sunk the holes in the cowl for the warshers and screws. The nut plates in place, these are what are called hot nuts. They...

Honestly, I've never used it on a model with the exception of using the glue. I've only ever used it on full scales, and I'm just not a fan, never could get the hang of it and you can't sand out mistakes lol. I know that you are supposed to be able to use your iron to fix them but I always...

Mind you I am no dope expert (that was my grampa lol) but I do think the key to dope is the process, get one step wrong and it will give you trouble. The other thing is how you put the coats on, every color needs to be treated like red. Many, many light coats, with dry time in between. The...
