Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

Hate to start a "Glue Debate" but get you some Zap CA, you won't regret it. I've spent a lot of money on pretty much every CA on the market and Zap is the best. Just my 2 cents ;) Also a good gap filler (outside of better joints) is to push some balsa dust down into the joint and then...

Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

I've used the method @BalsaDust described, I've also used trace paper they both work. I used See Temp for the Krier and I really like it because I like permanent temps (which I needed when I had to remake the front deck bulkheads after I cut the cabanes out to redo them). It's listed at the...

Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

@pawnshopmike building an airplane? This is awesome! ;) Honestly though this looks like a neat project. I've been getting into the less popular stuff myself lately, with the Krier, starting a Kool Kanary for my Dad soon, and just got plans for a 91" Waco Taperwing. I'll be lurking around...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

Well after a couple of time consuming setbacks I finally started putting Monokote on my buddy's Extra tonight. Luckily it is a very simple red/white and blue scheme so I should have it done and back to working on the Krier in about a week. Thank goodness, this Extra is starting to get to me a...

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

I like using the J'Tec instrument kits. They are cheap, and with a little effort you can make a really nice panel. Here are the 2 in my 35% Pitts and the one I just finished on my buddy's Hurley Extra.

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Well that's how I checked my 35%. Right on the rear cabane mount and the nose should hang down just slightly, 5-10 degrees. I used my fingers, well mine and my pop's fingers... On the head of a 6-32 bolt... And a 36 pound airplane....... Yea I'm not doing that again lol

@Pistolera, thank you so much for sharing some really cool stuff! I'm very grateful to have you following and contributing to my build thread. It's pretty amazing seeing how much Harold meant to so many people, (including my grampa) it is almost a little surprising that his airplanes aren't...

Wow, that is crazy awesome!! The picture of the Krier in that book has got to be a very rare one. The autograph is the best part, that is a serious piece of history. Definitely need to make sure that book is kept in the safest place possible! Thanks for sharing!!!!!! :)

    News SIG-nificant !! Hazel 75 !!

Our little community of fellow modelers owe quite a bit of gratitude to Hazel Sigafoose as well as Glenn and Maxi Hester. Outside of a few ARFs every airplane I have ever had has had some kind of Sig part on it lol. My current build, a scratch built 1/4 scale Krier Kraft, has basically been...

Oh yea the wheel pants, they are big! Lol. When I first started mocking it up with them I thought the same thing, but they look better as I go. They are actually pretty scale though, the first set of pants Harold put on the full scale were off of an early Cessna 182, which are big and kinda fat...

Yep, it will have a Q35 like Grampa's did. My original plan was to use a DLE or EME 35 but I got to worrying about it being tail heavyafter reading the logs Grampa kept. His Krier originally had a Tartan Glow engine on it (remember it was the early 80s lol) which is comparable in weight to...

Thank you! Thank you for following, glad that your learning too so am I! :) It ain't gonna be aside for long, its only been a day and its already eating at me. Just motivation to get my buddy's Extra done faster lol Got to finish the Extra I've been building for a friend (had it almost a...

I had to take a few more pictures before I put it up for awhile, so thought I go ahead and post them just for the heck of it :)

Just being cautious. I had trouble getting the plug out with the front lip and the cowl flap holding things together. Also I was going to add a reinforcement strip of cloth there anyway.

Huston we have a cowling! After some headaches with the mold and the resin I used to lay up the part I finally have a cowl. So the resin issue was I used non waxed polyester resin and couldn't get it to fully surface cure. after a couple of hours reading on some Corvette forums I learned that...

Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

I have an air wedge, which freed up most of it but it was just stuck to hard at that one spot. I'm suspecting that there was a pin hole there that I didn't see and the resin got down to the cloth on the plug and grabbed it. If I wasn't as cheap and got some 9oz Rutan Cloth and put 6 or 7...
