    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Ah!!! I missed it by a week. No worries, I wanted the kit here for the holiday weekend.

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Thanks WMcNabb! On to the tail wheel setup... I decided to machine a one piece spring with an integrated pivot mount. Again, the spring is overly stiff with the intention of removing material with the belt sander once the plane is at flight weight. These models seem so light out of the box but...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

I'll be swinging two 16" props so it's more an issue of appearance, width, and a higher angle of attack in three point. I fly in high winds quite a bit and need a wider stance with those long 110" wings. Pushing the axles forward just helps keep the tail down in rutted, soft beach sand. It can...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Here's a quick screen shot of my gear dimensions. Take in to account these haven't been flown yet. It's at least a reference if someone wants to make their own. Heat the aluminum with a propane torch until it begins to soften and bend easier. No heat = cracking. Let the aluminum cool down at...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Thanks Snoopy1, I cant figure out that stock gear??? It's not even close for a plane this size. I like the looks of spring gear on this airframe as well. 6061-T6 gear works great for rough terrain in combination with 6" Dubro low bounce tires. I might be able to make up a couple sets once I beat...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

I tackled replacing the ridiculous H9 gear today. I was limited in gear width by the fuselage slot so I went with 1/4" 6061-T6 and narrowed the profile towards the axles. If it is over sprung once I get the plane to flight weight I'll belt sand a taper in the trailing edge of the gear. The gear...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Ellie got her pilots license right out of high school and is a big fan of all things aviation. My problem is that means all regulation of the RC addiction is solely up to me! :)

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Excellent, thanks for the info! We fly in very similar places... I'll go with at least a 3.25" They included two leaf springs in my kit. I had to do some head scratching and tweaking on my fork to figure out how to machine it out of the 1" HDPE sheet I had. It was milled top down with some...

    110" TIMBER Assembly Thread

Congrats on the maiden flight! I unpacked my Timber today and had a good laugh when the gear came out! They would be anemic for a Timber 60!

Nicely done! Where did you get the adhesive back wire clips? I've been using some little stick on tabs with zip ties for years now, those look like a better option.

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Here's a short video hanging the stick in the wind. The twin 15" props directly in front of the flaps along with the VGs keep the wing flying and in full control. I can't wait to try this out with a higher lift airfoil/110" wing, massive flaps, and slats!

    Timber 110" Twin Build

I agree! The wife and pups love RC trips to the beach! Thanks Nick! I appreciate the warm welcome from everyone. I'll be taking advantage of all of the great information on the forum. Yes! It looks like our tailwheel forks are very similar... I needed something a lot stronger, bigger, and...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Thanks guys! The Ultra Stick got me hooked on giant scale. She flies incredible in the wind with the added size, weight, and an Aura 8 flight controller. I wasn't intending on another build this summer, but... well you know how it goes. :D Thanks pawnshopmike, the cradle is my own design. It's...

    Timber 110" Twin Build

Greetings Guys, After completing a twin-mod build on an Ultra Stick 30 this spring and loving how it performs I've decided to roll the concept to the Timber 110. Here are a few photos of the finished stick and a rendering of the project. Most of the components should arrive before the holiday...
