Finally managed to get some Redline here in the Philippines, had import it at great cost, but worth it, so toady cranked it up with fully synthetic for the first time at a 40:1 ratio, what a difference after re tuning the carb. video link: https://fb.watch/7wD1bYt02M/

Sounds like a lame excuse, but nothing is out of the question these days. Hey, After watching your video, I am puzzled by something. You added a ton of weight to the back of your Timber. I have the exact same set up now, but my batteries are located just behind the left side hatch opening and...

Ready to rock and roll again finally. Here is my take on installing the cub gear. a lot of finesse work left to the builder, but i like a challenge. pics show that I used "beer can" technology to fabricate needed shims to remove slop (both on axles and the main gear legs pivot ). added small...

gear came today, did a trial fit, all the brackets bolt right on, no mis alignment, but there needs to be some adjusting and additional engineering of the pivots. loose as Nick mentioned and the brackets are spread some, no big deal but I will bush the holes in the triangle piece and use...

    Cub 1/3 scale

used to use rubber bands also on sailplanes, but rubber bands break and are a pain to install, zip ties are easy and are as strong as a nylon bolt and less likely to damage the airframe in a less than desirable impact with the ground. bolts or zip ties are both good and have their...

    Cub 1/3 scale

on big scale high wing planes where practical, I used to use large eye hooks epoxied into the root ribs with a sacrificial large zip tie pulled tight between the wings, takes any stress off the fuse root plate and prevents stress there.

Thanks for the encouragement, while waiting my cub gear to arrive I have time to think about it, I suppose the easiest thing to do is replicate it on the other wing.

figured, the manual has it incorrectly printed a deep blue. my luck. it's not so bad, but hurts my OCD. To think I bought a whole roll for that little piece and have it turn out to be the wrong color. Was trying to find the trim sheet, that's only 12 bucks, but hard to find it. (Horizon is not...

Good as new, well almost, question for @AKNick. I ordered 3 rolls of covering to repair the Timber, using the numbers provided in the manual. The Blue however doesn't quite match, it's a shade lighter. (HANU873 Deep Blue). Either they made a typo or changed the formula wondering how yours was...

Balsa arrived yesterday and repair is now complete, but still waiting for the covering, UPS is very slow these days. Also on order the articulating cub gear.

covering and balsa should be here mid week, meanwhile some progress while waiting. Interestingly the main spars are balsa with thin hardwood lateral cap strips. stripped the covering all the way down the D tube to inspect, found a cracked sheet, and now I can cover over the slat holes and strut...

waiting on covering and balsa, did manage to reinforce the wing root area where it had stress cracks, sandwiched carbon tow between plywood. good thing I previously added glass reinforced hysol to the wing tube area and the struts with the addition to the aluminum strut pass through, no damage...

guess I'll stick with the Airtops for 60 bucks they work really well with no air in them, and are thick to resist puncture. if that is, you use them to land

That's for sure, the other axiom is if it's there you will hit it. all those poles are a recent development by the adjacent land owner to make a statement. typical here. so the field has been degraded a little because of it. Doesn't affect the other fliers so much as they all fly foamies for the...

Thanks Nick, Sh** happens, purely operator error, very lucky, could have hit the ground in many worse ways. Got to be careful of it now as no spares or kits any more. I'd have it back in shape in a few days except had to order materials from the US. so I'll get that gear coming too.

Six flights in and this happened, ouch. Our field is short and a recent adjacent property survey had paced a pole with a small flag on it at least 15' in the air at one end of the field. I completely misjudged the landing and my depth perception was way off I clipped the pole with the left wing...

Thanks Nick saw your post, I searched carbon gear and found nothing that looked like it would be the right size, TNT will make me a gear but the tempered 6061 T6 gear is 100 bucks plus 50 shipping, the H9 gear is only about 70 and shipping is a lot less. 4 flights so far and my gear has not...
