Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

Sorry, but you "ARE" the big tough Canadian. Anything below 45 and I am froze to the bone. Fingers ache and thumbs so numb they wont even move. They gotz these things called transmitter mitts. Even come with Lipo power heat. Been thinking of getting one. Now especially since I have a really...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

The weather has been simply gorgeous. Not quite as nice as yesterday. But still really good all the same. The winds were about four gusting to 9 most of the day. Quite a number of guys showed up to fly today. We all had a really great time. The Pilot Edge seen some action as did you know what...

Ooooo!!! Nicely done. I like! Think I may have found a side project for when (if) the snow flies. Awesome Doug!

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

The only difference is a brushless-motor is simpler because it uses semi-conductor (electronic) switches to achieve commutation while the coreless-motor servo uses the same old-fashioned brushes and commutator ring to switch the fields. ... the windings are switching from one to the other. Less...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Oh if only you knew the pains I go through trying to figure out good antenna placement. If it helps any, (and I have to chuckle) My son still has his "Fun 51" from years ago. We both bought the kit and assembled them using different schemes. Talk about a hoot. Them buggers haul the mail with...

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

A conventional servo motor has a steel core armature wrapped with wire that spins inside the magnets. In a coreless design, the armature uses a thin wire mesh that forms a cup that spins around the outside of the magnets eliminating the heavy steel core. This design results in smoother operation...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Except one thing to remember. It is Amazons "Financial" persuasion that the boobs in Washington are all falling over them selves to get a piece (their cut) of the pie.

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

0 gusting to 4 The weather here today was about as perfect as it can get for this time of year. 0 wind with gusts to 4. Bright warm sunshine and clear blue skies. Heck, I had to take five and just sit in a chair in the sunshine and soak it in. What did I do with the remaining 5 hours and 25...

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

That is awesome. Not many businesses (as you mentioned) would step up to the plate like this.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Nice gesture, but for what it is worth... I have decided to boycott Amazon. If ebay doesn't have what I am looking for then I will do without. I refuse to support the "WORMS" that are infesting our hobby and making it difficult for us to keep our airspace. Might as well start the movement...

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

You may value the plane at 100.00 because that is what you gave for it. But honestly, what would it cost you to purchase every component a piece at a time. At one time, that plane brought $800.00 bucks at the local dealer. The ZDZ 80? $900.00 bucks. So there you have $1700.00 just in airframe...

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

The two sided tape servo install method was one of the biggest turn offs for me. Imagine that servo "walking" back and forth with excessive force? Or is it really that robust and sound?

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

No problem.... Surprisingly enough, I had never found a centering issue with the 5645. In fact, I had them in a VVRC Slick with a DLE 55. I loved flying that plane so much. On Sunday evenings my favorite thing to do was go to the field at just about dusk. And fly Knife edge (high alpha) passes...
