The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

@BalsaDust didn’t you get one of the 1.5m or 2m chrysalis sailplanes? If so, thoughts on it being a relatively easy build. My 12 year old son wants to build something and a sailplane seems to pique his interest. gotta feed the fire when it’s burning...

Anyone here really? What? A timing light just for us.

Since your looking to use a drill motor to spin it, I suggest simply taking an old spark plug, open the gap up and orientate the plug (hold it over where you want to see the marks) so that the spark light points toward your timing marks (of course the plug will need to be installed in the boot)...

Anyone here really? What? A timing light just for us.

I don't know about the voltage, but if you are looking to spool up the engine with, say a starter or something, then you could simply make your own "light" using the spark itself. I have done this for full scale stuff to run up distributers and ignitions on an electric motor to test ignition...

Interesting. Most of the plotters today use rolls of paper. Using a standard 36” roll (very common) you can plot it as long as the paper is on the roll. Just requires adding a custom size paper to the plotter. Can’t believe they still add single sheets to the plotters only in Canada. Haha
