Scale 112” - Taylorcraft by HeyLuc & Snoopy.

Piper simply calls it windshield attachment strip. I made it by laying fiberglass in the area and final sanded to shape. On the Balsa USA Super Cub, the attachment strip is formed into the windshield plastic, nice touch.

Maybe you are referring to the seal strip like this one? If so I say yes.

Looks like you are in a shirt factory! Not sure I understand the ledge, are you talking about grooving the sheeting?

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

While working on the tailwheel decided to replace the spring as well. The original was made from the plans however the spring was too stiff, no spring action at all. The original springs were made from 3/32" thick 1095 steel, the new spring will be 1/16" thick 1095. The spring will need heat...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Had to break out the arc welder and acetylene torch to form the new yoke. It took two different bending bucks to finish. After a little drilling, milling, filing and silver brazing it is starting to look better. Still need to add the control horns.

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Here is a good explanation and drawing of the squish band on a two stroke engine. On most model airplane two stroke engines, the cylinder and head are integral so to measure the squish band a piece of solder is inserted in the plug hole and the engine is turned over smashing the solder down to...

I have some work to do on the fuselage yet, a few of the filler pieces were damaged and need replaced. The jury struts were made from K&S aluminum streamline tube and 3/16" round aluminum tube, these didn't hold up very well. Ordered the stainless steel streamline tube from Toni Clark and...

Well here we are, 10 days, 3 yards of fabric, little more than pint of EcoBond, 825 #0 button head screws, 50 yards of 3/4" tape, 5 yards of 2" tape, 12 1/2" chip brushes, 25 single edge razor blades, a couple rolls of shop towels and paper towels, and the wings are covered ready for heat smoothing.

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Decided to lay up the left pant using jointing tape rather than the overlap method. The 2 ounce and 4 ounce cloth was laid up and trimmed while green to the top of the parting line. The KELVAR was cut just below the parting line and laid up using peel ply, mounting hard points installed and...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Seen this on a "Ziroli Bearcat" build going on now. What a wonderful idea for setting the height of your laser level, lab Jacks. Now I use various blocks shimmed with balsa and plywood to set the height. When I reached out to thank the builder for the idea he said that he borrowed that from...

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Maybe start covering the wing and the tail parts to get the hang of it, then you can judge how to work around the cabin area. Around the door, you will need to attach the fabric, shrink it, coat of Poly Brush, then a finish tape attached with Poly Brush. My thoughts what ever can be removed...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

I was wondering how you would use the dial indicator, I see now. I've used to old fashion method, smashing solder with the piston and measuring the resulting thickness.

If the side pieces were removed it would make covering around the door opening much easier. I find attaching the fabric a little messy so what I look for is nothing of value in vicinity. Plus, you've done all the wonderful work, it would be shame to get overspray all over it.

To measure the narrow squish band around the head?
