slope soaring who does it ? where and what are you flying?

Judge, I guess we just missed each other: I moved from California in 1990. I flew a few times at the top of a road in Laguna Beach: goo lift, but rough landing! I visited in 2004, and stopped by Kite Hill: did not recognize any one, and the lift was killed by the reshaping of the hills for...

slope soaring who does it ? where and what are you flying?

I loved flying slope in the California after-noons, after flying (glow) power all morning. I would still be doing it, but it's kind of hard to find a slope here in Central Florida...:) Through the 80's I flew The SOS (Son Of Savage) in Laguna Niguel, a place called Kite Hill. Judge, if you flew...

If I can make it to the Corn Huck, I'll need a bigger trailer.... or less planes!:sleepy:

Easiest way is straight down roll, and watch the spinner.

The wings being a little higher that the center of the fuse, it make sense to have a little more down that up. I have it the other way around on the Extra.

The inboard in screwed all the way in. On the Edge I get 140mm of travel down, 130mm Up with the ATV at about 100% Then I do what it takes on the outboard to match the inboard, WITHOUT changing the ATV if possible (also at or around 100%).

    PAU Owners Thread

It depends of how you fly: for many people, yes. For hard flyers, probably not. I am just catching up after returning from Joe Nall. I am surprised to see these sheered bolts: my planes are all built with stock hardware, and I never had that happen... Maybe the US bought bolts are not as good...

    Spinner Thoughts

It is convenient to use a single bolt spinner, but they easily develop cracks on the aluminum back plate, since you have to tighten the cone against the back plate to prevent slipping. CF back plates have other documented potential issues. On a powerful gas engine prone to vibrations, I would...

    Joe Nall 2016 = QUIET!!!

I spoke to some Triple Tree Staff today, and discussed the wording of the statement on the TT website. Admittedly, it was worded in a way that leads to the misunderstanding that the use of all three pieces of equipment would be required next year. "...the biggest issue is that of prop ripping...

The BS that went on at NALL on Friday Night

There are several interpretations of what is written. I did not interpret, I am merely ready what is written verbatim. If looser interpretation of it is what was meant, then I hope they reword it accordingly in order to avoid any confusion. They did not write: "reach a given sound level limit...

The BS that went on at NALL on Friday Night

The last part in red is the troublesome part: Litterally, it means: Canister mufflers, three blade props, “soft mounting” of engines, and less than full throttle passes can all be utilized and will be a requirement for Joe Nall I only hope it was misstated, and will be reworded in the...

    Joe Nall 2016 = QUIET!!!

This "requirement" does not sound like a request or suggestion to me. http://www.tripletreeaerodrome.com/news.php Recent AMA articles have dealt with the issue of noise created by some of our models. Noise is certainly in the top two or three issues faced by many clubs around the world. If we...

The BS that went on at NALL on Friday Night

It would kill the classic line, and much of the 3D: the cost of complying plus the technical challenges in retrofitting all out planes, in addition to the weight penalties...... :epic::epic::epic: We can only hope it is an over reaction. It would be simpler to have a line boss who enforces the...

The BS that went on at NALL on Friday Night

Most were considerate about prolonged full throttle flying. A small handful, certainly annoying and inconsiderate seemed to enjoy prop ripping, in spite of multiple reminders at the pilots' meetings. I just read the 2016 requirements, and it will definitely be a challenge to convert everything...

    Futaba 18SZ

Yes, that is what Frank told me. This is the perfect solution to my Joe Nall dilemma: I needed two planes flown together, and I don't want to have to buy another 18MZ. I will sell the 14 when it comes back, and wait for the new 18SZ.... ...and I buy my stuff too!
