Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

The biggest problem for me doing low slow 3D is when I get the airplane close to the ground it's hard to see it past the dollar signs that get in the way. Everyone tells me to get a foamie and practice with that. The problem with that is I tried a Crack Pitts and have flown some others, and I...

I flew this 90" Extra at 21 pounds with a 10 year old DA50, a can and a Mejzlik 23x8. It was no 3D airplane that's for sure, but it sure flew good and man was it pretty.

I'd sure like to know how my Pilot Edge got so heavy. When it had the DA50 in it with a KS65 canister it weighed 17 1/4 pounds. Your not the only one that told me their's weighed in the 16's. I set the timing on mine back so it wouldn't kick back and eat me.

Rob, whats that thing weigh with the DLE? My Pilot Edge weighs like 17.5 pounds and the GP61 throws it around like a toy. I haven't had a tach on mine in a long time so I don't remember what it turns the Falcon 24x9. It was flat hauling the mail today, the tune must have been just right for the...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I started fixing the hangar rash on Miss Moana tonight. I patched the spot with Solartex which turned out well. I want to seal the edges with thin CA but I don't have any. Unfortunately we don't have a hobby shop anywhere near here anymore so I guess I'll hit up the hardware stores or order some...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

There are so many good companies out there. Taildragger, TNT, RC Aircraft Components, Northwest RC and others. I love a good mom and pop kind of operation.

Help! Anyone own the 104" AJ Slick?

The fuzzy side of Velcro is great for hub balancing, stick it on, CA around the edge, then drip thin CA on and hit it with kicker. Repeat the CA it till you get the balance you want.

He feels pretty rotten about it, but I assured him it was an easy fix. He's been taking an anti seizure medication that really messes with his coordination, but even with that he does damn good for a 94 year old.:)

Here is an upcoming workshop project. My 94 year old father dropped something on Miss Moana and poked a hole in the painted Solartex covering on the left elevator.

We've had a fair amount of rain here over the last few weeks. Of course three inches of it was the afternoon of the Midwest Air Wing Big Bird flyin.

I'm at home looking out the window watching nothing. Of course 30 minutes north of me at the field it's rained twice already today with more on the way.

Help! Anyone own the 104" AJ Slick?

It sucks that it's so hard sometimes to find someone that will do a job right. I've had an autobody shop for 36 years, and have been doing it for over 40. The number of big expensive shops in my area that are total butchers is mind boggling. Everyone has a project now and then that doesn't go as...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

I did get a few flights on the Mig 21 today, but I found out landing with zero wind is quite the challenge. That thing just sails on by. Most EDF seem to like some throttle when you land, but today that was impossible.
