The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I used to do those calculations when I was messing with some small pylon airplanes. I did the math that day the guy clocked my Edge at over 120, but I didn't want to rain on his parade since he was so proud of his radar gun. 9 inch pitch propeller at an unloaded RPM of 8000 is a tad less than...

While the Freewing Avanti is an awesome jet, 140 is asking a bit much. Of course we've had some wild radar gun readings at our field. One guy got my Pilot Edge at 126 which is pretty well impossible with the engine and prop combo I run.

I would just prime it. Chances are it will work fine. It's hard to say what all different layers are, you just never know.

Help! Anyone own the 104" AJ Slick?

I had one from Horizon that took a little over a week and they're about 2 hours from me. The package traveled around 700 miles to get to me. It went UPS from Champaign IL. to Kansas City Mo. Than USPS to me in Illinois about 30 minutes east of St.Louis.

The Secraft washers are pretty cool too. It's hard to tell in this picture since the washer and the arm are almost the same color.

I quit using the stock Philips head servo arm screws too for most projects. I use an Allen for those as well. The Hitec servos use a 2.6mm thread. They're available from Secraft with fancy washers, and Servo City has the screws in several lengths. That way you don't need to worry about the...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Some days that's just how it is. My buddy Carl had a theory that if you left just a few minutes work to do on one project instead of finishing it, then your more likely to get back in the shop the next night and finish that up and start a new project than if you finished it, and the next night...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

Just got back from the field. Normally I would whine about winds gusting 16-18, but when the "feels like" temperature is over 100 the wind is a plus. The field was a ghost town. Everyone either scared of the heat, or doing father's day stuff. Landing a floaty airplane in a gusty constantly...

Whatever trailer you use, just don't tow it like this, it just won't last. :)

I don't 3D my helis either. Just loop and roll and fly upside down. Orientation is everything with a heli. That's why the hover training with it rotating is so helpful.

Teach yourself on the sim first and you'll do great. It worked great for me and I was flying in no time. There was a great training program on Helifreak or RunRyder one or the other. The part of it that helped me the most was where you went to the helicopter training circle in Realflight and...

Help! Anyone own the 104" AJ Slick?

Plus when it's sitting on the ground you can hop the tail off the ground like a lowrider in East LA.;) Yeah it's not like the old days, servos now will exactly mimic the stick movements. My buddy Tony had the habit of releasing the sticks after doing a snap. When he started flying good 3D...
