The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Not my work shop, but been contemplating this for a while now..... Some really crappy, light weight 5/8" thick ply that I got from work, a little bit of aluminum dowel, a lathe and drill bits. This is what I come up with. It is a 1 off, and wont be made for anyone else. I made this one...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Crap motor, crap results. You get what you pay for. Honestly, looks like a bearing went south, and then overheated and heat developed loosened the magnets. Motor has no clue as to what it is installed in. "C" rating is how easy the electrons flow.

    piston ring replacement

Pull a cylinder, remove the ring and place the ring down in the cylinder. Take a feeler gage and measure the gap.

IMAC Double Build, Carden Pro 124" Extra 300 40%

It would be so nice if ZDZ would change up their engine mount pattern to match other engines on the market.

    Moving to High Voltage

A little late to the party on this, but pull the pack out of the airplane and cut the shrink wrap off the pack. Take a multi meter, set it to DC volts and check each cell. If each cell reads correctly, then go to your output leads and check for proper voltage. You may see the issue when you...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

What I need to do is get some blue outer nyrod and glue them in a balsa block and set it up so that I can tweek my ZDZ needles....

    Any Monokote users here?

Thats what most run into with buying just 6' rolls. Save yourself a little headache, and splurge on the 25' roll. It is countless as to how many 25' rolls I have used up over the years in using MonoKote.

    Starting DA-150

Just to add some more food to the thread. A friend of mine just aquired a 40% with a DA 150. He made arrangements with me today to meet up and get it started. We meet up, I look over the entire airplane, note a couple things I personally would like to see different, nothing major. Onto the...

IMAC Double Build, Carden Pro 124" Extra 300 40%

By just having the cap screws in the bare wood, threaded, it will leave the gear plate in the fuse,if a gear out situation occurs, but will unfortunately poke holes in the bottom of the wings from the wheel pants. I am all too familiar with that. Be sure to harden the threades with thin super...

    ZDZ 112 Champion mounting

My starting procedure follows..... Choke on, rock the prop 12 times, then flip til it popped (which was about 4-6 flips), choke off, throttle kept on idle, 2 to 6 flips. But, I still have to do some tuning on it.
