Engine Gurus Unite -> I need HELP!

I don't want to square anyone away, just the dirty little reciprocator. I've been here since day one, it's been my evening entertainment, "As The Propeller Turns" so to speak. Message drop down box? I know nothing about that, please teach me something.

Engine Gurus Unite -> I need HELP!

When you get tired of beating your head against the wall, PM me for my address. I'll find the problem within 30 minutes, have it fixed and purring like a Chinese 妓女 30 minutes later. Shipping to my address would be your only cost. I have anything/everything it could possibly need.

DLE-111 Three Year Inspection & Overhaul

As I eluded above, the V2 crankcase assembly has no factory or dealer support except crankshaft main bearings. If anything is wrong with the crankshaft, housing, even prop hub (less stripped threads), it's time for a new engine. So, proceed with caution.

DLE-111 Three Year Inspection & Overhaul

I'm not really certain of your experience/ability/tool set level. But if I were to judge by your description above, I'd not take the crankcase apart. Pull the jugs, inspect everything you can see, replace both pistons and/or jugs as a set even if only one is worn, put in a set of Frank's rings...

Does Anyone Know The Proper Way To Use the RCEXL Ingition Hall Sensor Test Kit?

Bob, .. et al, When the light/buzzer stops is where to set the timing, and when the ignition fires. The ignition fires as the magnet passes the trailing edge of the sensor. It sounds like the tester is working for you as it's supposed to.

    Temp Logging

With a little ingenuity a 1/4" seat could be made fairly easily. If these use a typical type K thermocouple (most do) there are other options as well that don't need a ring under the plug.

How did you get or come up with your user name?

My nickname is not of my imagination. It was bestowed upon me over 30 years ago by those that knew me well. Back in the day when no one had any money, I was the one who fixed anything and everything that was broken. Cars, dishwashers, pumps, washing machines, motors/engines of any kind, the...

    Permatex

Throw the gaskets away. As recommended above, make sure the sealing surfaces are flat using sand paper and a flat surface. Use a thin film (paper thin or less) of Permatex Ultra Copper and Loctite 262 on the bolts, tighten the bolts completely the first time, let it cure for a few hours, done.

    Engine running issue.

Mike, I apologize, I forgot all about getting you some pictures of the cure for this issue. You need to increase pop off pressure of the inlet needle not decrease it which is what will happen if you shorten the spring. I've heard of some people stretching the spring slightly to make it...

    Frank Bowman Rings

Can't go wrong with Frank's rings in any of our engines. There is no bad or wrong time to install them. Right out of the box, 2 hrs. run time, or 50 hrs. doesn't make any difference, but you'll be in break in mode after install. Frank provides good instructions for installing his rings and...

    Carbon Build Up

If I use an IR gun I shoot it right behind the spark plug on the combustion chamber dome, not a fin. But it is interesting to shoot different locations to see different temps, pistons and cylinders aren't the only temperature sensitive components in an engine. Some other components have a much...

    Carbon Build Up

For all the reasons stated below your post. The only time an IR gun can be accurately used is when bench or ground running if the area shot for the reading is flat black or otherwise nonreflective. You can take temp readings of various engine locations, just use a Sharpie to mark the places you...

    Carbon Build Up

Your findings are accurate and align with my experience. The temp loggers are a little bit of a pain to monitor but can provide very useful information. If one doesn't mind frequent landings you can determine which specific maneuvers create the most heat, which ones provide cooling, and the...

    Carbon Build Up

That's the one. Venom, Traxxas, and MIP were the main suppliers of these temp loggers. Did some searching to provide a link but found that most all vendors have discontinued them. I think the advent of inexpensive telemetry systems combined with radios have decreased the demand to the point it's...

    Carbon Build Up

Ok, I'll try to make this as short as possible. Carbon is a natural byproduct of organic combustion. Nothing can be done or added to the fuel mixture to prevent carbon from being produced when it's burned. However, there are products that produce less carbon during combustion and more...

    DLE-170 Spark Plug Gap

In the typical range of .018"- .030", no. Outside of that anything is possible.

    DLE-170 Spark Plug Gap

I won't refute or support it. But, I will say that the Rcexl ignition that the DLE170 is equipped with is perfectly capable of making an arc in a .026" gap at over 10K RPM.
