Already have an aluminum spinner with full backplate. My batteries were right behind the motor box and when I checked the CG last I moved them onto the motor box. It helped just a little.

Here is some stuff I removed already. Useless weight. Not much but every little bit helps way out on the tail.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to do some lightening in the tail and see where I end up. And where I need to go from there.

I made a few spares. I tend to land a little hard sometimes. I did make these a little wider than my originals so they should be a little stronger. With the right heat and some patience you can make the bends nice and clear with no burning or melting.

Thanks, It's actually red but does look orange on that pic. It's an Hazzbro EE60, sold by WrongwayRC running a DLE 20. It was my first balsa build. Got my original gear from another Profile Bro. But I broke it and decided to make my own. I ordered a sheet of polycarbonate and had my panel shop...

Oh yeah. Tried out my Hi Prop props tonight and I'm happy. Half the cost and I can't tell adifference between them and a Xoar or Falcon. AndI love the little slick. It is so locked in.

It was an awesome night for some flying. Got 4 flights on each tonight. Had the field to myself tonight. I flew till the sun went down and the lights came on.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Yeah I'm crazy tail heavy and looking into every way possible to shed some weight. It may be worth it if I can't lose it any other way. I pulled an ounce out last night of worthless ply and old antennae tubes and a wire way. Someone got way to happy with the glue and foam in the tail.

I've been wondering how much lighter a carbon stab tube would be over aluminum. I'd hate to pay for a new tube and only lose an ounce. But I would be worth it for a few ounces.

    Aluminum vs. Carbon Stab tube

Anyone have a 5/8" x 0.035" carbon tube they could weigh? I'd like to know the weight savings over aluminum. Trying to shed some tail weight.

We're they out of stock at the time? I got my aluminum tubes pretty quick.

I can post some more pics but you level the plane in the rig, and the plumb bob points to the CG.

Yeah they are very accurate. You can read about them here: http://www.tarmac.org.au/Vanessa%20CG%20Machine.pdf This is a buddies rig and he balances all his big planes with it.

Yeah I'll have to buy some new wheel pants, it would be easier than trying to fix the old ones. I think I read about 3:1 for nose vs tail weight. I moved 2 of my batteries to the top of the motor box and that moved it from 8.25" to 7.75". Then I tried adding 1.5lbs right on top of the engine...
