    For Sale DLE 55

DLE 55 side exhaust for sale. Has bowman ring installed. Maybe 2 gallons total of fuel through it. has Jtec Pitts Style Muffler and not pictured is a Xoar 23x8 wood prop that goes with it. When installed on the plane I needed nose weight so I had a buddy make me some steel standoffs and in...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Couple of quick bits today. Servo mounts for the wing. You will need to grab these ply pieces. For these you have to grab a file and file the edges square or that won’t fit tightly. Then just go to the outside of R2. Butt it up to the back of the spare and even with the top of the rib. Tack it...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Ok step one once spar and center section are laid out. From the main spar to the le of the wing needs to be the exact width of the motor mount so I like to just slip the mount down in it until things start getting glued. Lay all your ribs out, make sure they line up with the plans, and that...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Yeah they may work ok for that. For me they where getting daily use and my 3/16" lost the clip with in a month

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Not worth imo. I have a set at work that is just the standard Allen wrench’s with the holding part on them. It doesn’t take long for the little spring clip on them to break or fall off.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I have the exact same set in sae and metric. They are great.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Ok first let’s back track a second. Don’t won’t go forget this step as I have before and it’s a pain to correct once the wing is built. On a profile your receiver will be in the wing so you will need a way for one aileron servo lead to get to the other wing. Just use a dremel tool to grind down...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

As you can see I have built quite a few of these and I think at least a dozen have been scratch built by others on the probro site. Needless to say the Ugly one was the one that was ever mine. All others where sent away and even the prototype I gave to a buddy at NASHBRO a couple years ago. It...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Lets just say that a twisty 1/4" fuse wasnt too fond of a 4S power system and doing poptops and such with it. Ended up shearing the tail off in flight. only the fuse was destroyed so i built a new one out of 3/8 material and tube. Literally was just grabbing all the scraps of covering and laying...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Original fuse of prototype. proto was only 1/4" thick with arrow shaft tube. That proved to be a mistake later when I stepped up the power system on it. This is the plane I truly learned to knife edge on and I love this shot a buddy got of it Proto all covered bottom top. See it was pretty...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

exactly. you will see when I assemble it later on how the motor mount really locks it all together. Also the saying in the profile world is "No tube no love" as the tube makes the planes incredibly durable.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Prototype I did years ago yes I cut myself but had much fewer parts. This is drew it into CAD. A Probro buddy CNC cut it for me and will be doing a kit run of them sometime after I’m done building this one so I can correct the couple of mistakes in cut files and do up this nice build thread for...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Two floppy bits complete. The mistake I mentioned on the wing the root ribs get these doublers at the nose. I drew a notch instead of a flat nose so I had to hand cut two new one. Next up lay the two root ribs facing opposite directions, don’t want to make to left ones. Now get the 1/16”...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

For reference the prototype I built back in 2015 went from and idea in my head, to maiden in six days. I need to find a picture of it. It was ugly as sin but flew awesome.

I forgot to mention in that last photo. For thin ca I like to use the little pipettes to apply it. I find I can control it better and it gets into tight spots.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Up next is laminating the motor mount it’s a 3/8” balsa core with 1/16” birch ply on both side. This is where I found my second mistake in my CAD work just now the other is in the wing and will point out when I get there. On the motor mount I drew three 1/8” holes that you could install 1/8”...
