    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

Yeah... I have to say... this motor has way more power than any motor I've ever run. Even with the Mejzlik 32-10 original prop if I'm in a hover and punch it... I'm like 1000' up in no time (sorry FAA, haha). I've got six more flights on it now (10 total) and it is just a great engine. So far...

    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

I don't know how much fuel this engine has through it (Joe Mitchell?) because ZDZ test ran it, and Joe said he test ran it for me, just to be sure, too. But, it already has tons of power. Much more bottom end than I had with the 3W-170CS on stock mufflers and the DA-170 on RE3 tune pipes. Top...

    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

Right?! haha I should do a "shoot" with this one for fun... hmmmm.... The plane is the Pilot RC Extra 330. It's the scheme I wanted when I put together the purple one, but it wasn't in stock then. So, when the red/white/blue one was back in stock... I called @Jefflesh to see if he wanted to...

It was a little cold and a little damp by the time I got to the field... oh, and dark. haha

Ah, Sensei, I like that guy! Here's a shot I took of his plane at the 2002 TOC: pivot point not in the hinge line... that's how I like it. :)

It just seems that way. ;) I know what you mean, though. The city will tell me I need more strength out of a drag strut... and the engineer will calc more nails into it... the same strut that is already seeing the wood splitting apart.

I finally finished the conversion from DLE to ZDZ today. I put my choke servo on a momentary switch like I always do. When I got to the field I put the plane together and filled it up with gas. I held my finger down on the choke switch while i flipped around 15 times. When the motor fired I...

Yes... although... how big is this plane? You may want to go to 10/32. On my 122" Pilot I ordered some 6" 10/32 hardened steel all thread rods from mcmaster carr... they are stout. Then I used the DUBRO horns you have the link to in the 10/32 size.

    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

Yeah, I like it! And, smooth and quiet, too. :) I changed the linkages around just a bit. I made a new motorbox top that is removable. I used #3 x 5/8" servo screws. Seemed fine until I reached my hand into the motorbox to get a wire. I almost pulled out a stump! :O I replaced all the servo...

Worked on the throttle and choke servo setup... I get 140/140 end points on my throttle servo with this setup... best case resolution. :)

First thing, get rid of that clevis. That's the first thing I had @Jefflesh do on his plane. Put a DUBRO clevis with a DUBRO ball link on there. Then we'll go from there. That thing is so long it is messing everything up. DUBRO has those too, but they are designed for smaller planes. When you go...

    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

ZDZ includes aftermarket set screw type arms for the choke and throttle. You have to remove the Walbro stock arms. @Tavis said to grind off the end and pull the arms, so I did. Next Tavis said you're still going to want some spring tension on the butterfly rod so cut the spring down to two...

    Pilot RC 107" Extra 330SC

Got the hole cut in the firewall. The JMB mufflers just barely fit without needing a relief cut. The stacks also lined up with the DLE stack holes in the cowl... only needed to be elongated 1/2" towards the front... not phi beta kappa, but not too bad.

A little test fit... I'll go to work on all the details later today.
