The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Sorry no pictures. I tore the 176EVO apart and replaced the front bearing/seal because it was leaking oil :( In the process I made sure everything was cleaned up and tightly sealed. Now magically the temperatures are within 5 to 10 degrees of each other instead of 40 to 60 degrees different when...

    SOLD! Mezjlik 29 x 12 EVO 3 blade

Couldn't remember if 3W used 5 or 6mm on the larger engines.

    Mixing question

I am pretty sure it is not related to incidence. The full throttle chop and excelleration tests produce no ill effects at all. I am thinking I just need to rebalance the plane and set it up just a tad on the nose heavy side and work with it from there :-)

    For Sale Mejzlik props

@TazmanianDevil not a problem. I thought it would work also. I have a prop on the way that should work. It is a standard 29x12 mezjlik.

    For Sale Mejzlik props

Thanks for the prop Adi! It is a big load on the 176EVO but, I think if I pick up a set of @Planebender smooth pipes I may get the extra 250 to 300 rpm I need to keep the engine in its power range better. Drilling for the GP was a piece of cake.

    Mixing question

    Pull-pull.

    Mixing question

The engine is already sitting further ahead than the DLE-170 was. The gap is almost 1/4" between the cowl and spinner. I may try to move my batteries a little further ahead and see if that helps.

    Mixing question

The speed of rudder input does not matter. The tucking is consistent.

    Mixing question

I am going to add a little bit of weight and tip it a touch nose heavy to see how it does. Thanks Earle for the input. It is REALLY appreciated :) Good luck this season!

    150-200cc Extra 300SP

If you decide to make your own using the mpx connectors, check these out at Esprit, http://www.espritmodel.com/multiplex-connector-solder-couplers-servo-2.aspx They make soldering multiple wires to the mpx connectors a breeze. If you are restricted on space, then these may not be an option.

    Mixing question

The plane will stay on the 45 until I pull it away. I have let it fly at that attitude for a long time to see if things would change after a bit but, it just stays there :) This plane has coupling issues bad. A friend has the same plane in a different scheme and the same thing with his. Almost...

    Mixing question

Here we go. I have a 3DHS 330LX that is balance neutral on the center of the wing tube. Any time rudder is applied more than a few degrees, it starts tucking to the gear. The more rudder you add the harder it tucks to the gear. In knife edge flight from both directions, same thing. I have tried...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

The experiment of epoxying old bolt holes in cf gear was a success! Also got the cf spinner from Bill Hempel a day early so installed it also. As long as mother nature agrees, may be testing the new prop today after work :-) The stand from @Terryscustom has definitely been getting used!

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Trying an experiment. Had a nice cf landing gear from an old 40% plane that met its demise due to an engine failure long ago and figured I would fill the mounting holes with 30 min epoxy so I could redrill the gear for the 330LX. We will see how things turn out tomorrow after work becuase I am...

One other thing, if you are looking for a cf spinner with an aluminum back plate, go to http://billhempel.com and look under accessories. I stumbled across it by accident and now have a 5" spinner cut for a 3 blade prop on its way for $79 after shipping!

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I got the 3 blade prop in from Adi in Israel today! Everything is perfect on the prop. @TazmanianDevil KNOWS how to pack a prop! So, I was turning a 29 x 12N at 6300 on the ground. I bolted the 29 x 12EVO on and it is turning 5450 after everything is warmed up! I am confident the 176EVO has...
