3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

No on to the LE. As you can see the sheeting overhangs a little bit which is what I intended. We need to get it down flush with the ribs. My method was to grab my small hand plane and go to town on it. Five or six passes had it really close. Then I switched to my sanding block to finish it up...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Oh its tons of fun. Only complaint so far is it doesnt roll fast enough. Wish they had the flaps on two different servos so I could mix it in for full length ailerons but they are both on one servo so it cant be done. You should get one. Currently they are offering a $20 off coupon on it.

I’m going out flying thread 2019

Took my UMX Timber out for its maiden flight today. Nice and cold with it being a mix of rain, sleet, and snow but I couldnt resist. Little joker is a blast and I advise everyone to pick one up.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

It’s possible but probably not. I have electronics from my original one here I could use but have much nicer stuff headed this way for it and would rather use it. This includes servos that I believe are slightly smaller so I won’t be able to cover the wing or fuse until I have those and make...

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Fair bit of progress this morning. Got the le sheeting on, Center section, and one piece of TE sheeting. Same as the top basically but you can see how I let the Center section hang off the back and the TE just butts up to it. A lot quicker and easier this way. Should have the airframe finished...

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

I use a bunch of old lighting ballast for weights along with the smaller weights you can see on the wing in the background. With the ballast I just cut the wires off then hot glue a piece of foam board to the bottom of it to help protect the airframe

Exactly. It have the cool factor and what I saw somewhere else it was still turning a 20" prop but I cant justify the price.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Not a lot of progress this morning. Sold my last dle 55 to a club member and needed to get it off the plane it was on so he could get it tomorrow. First up and not pictured but go ahead and trim the extra length of spar and stuff hanging past the wing tips to length. Also go ahead and trim the...

Interesting. Its a touch longer than needed but might work with either moving the firewall back or shortening the standoffs some. may require a bunch of nose wieght though. Let me think on it and I will get back with you in a day or so.

Yeah there is plenty of strength there. Sheeting to the main would just add extra weight. The original prototype only had sheer webs in the first two bays of the wing and never had a problem. Since I didn't do carbon two in the spar on this one I decided to do them all the way out.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Now that all the sheer webs are done we need to start the sheeting on the wing. Mind you this is where i realizes I screwed up. No biggie it will be fine and I will do the other side the proper way. On this side of the wing it needs to be sheeted our enough to cover the servo mounts. This ties...

That is unless someone wants to fund this. It’s one four stroke that would fit other than having to probably relocate the firewall further back. https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=SAIG1014&P=FR&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4fCD-ZLB4AIVReDICh0VUg-_EAQYASABEgIgVfD_BwE

Appreciate the offer. One question. How long is the engine from the firewall the where the back of the prop would be? And how much?

So anybody got a Zenoah G23 or G26 laying around their shop they want to part with? Thinking that will be my best option on the Nieuport kit I picked up.

3D Edge 540 Profile Build (Glitter JR)

Well back in the flow of things and got a little work done this morning. First up was doing the LE sheeting. I just grabbed a sheet of 1/16”x3”x36” balsa and ripped it into four even 3/4” wide pieces. Mark the center line of the front subspar at each end and glue to this. I’m using softer balsa...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

So looking around I think I’m gonna stick to a two stroke. The four strokes are a little bit taller which will require cutting more of the cowl than I want. The Zenoah G23 fits perfect according to the manual using scale cowl cutouts for the exhaust and the spark plug boot.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Gotcha. Yeah there are lots of choices in the two stroke department just slime pickings in four stroke. Funny as the plans say a 1.20 four stroke nitro will fly it.
