I hope this doesn't spark any debates but yesterday Oct. 6, 2012, out at KTTA I saw a full scale Edge 540 and MX-2 pull off the following 3D maneuvers:
  • Harrier
  • Inverted Harrier
  • High Alpha Knife Edge Pass
  • Hover
  • Torque Roll
  • Square Loop
  • Knife edge descent/slip into landing
  • Blender
And one I've not seen with full scale before: inverted flat spin.

When I realized what was happening I stood there speechless and stunned. My dad was there and was just as stunned.

Among the aerobatic birds present were: Yak 54, Pitts 12, Extra 300L, Edge 540, MX-2, and Pitts Special. Attached are some shots of the full scale birds. I apologize for the low quality, I only had my iPod with me to take pictures and videos with.

Insane is all I can say. Lol. Haven't seen a full scale blender yet. That must have been scary. The others I have seen and pretty amazing stuff for sure. Somewhere out there someone is practicing a rolling harrier full scale and we will see it at some point.

You are welcomed. Thought some would like to see different color schemes from the ARFs. Wish I had had a better camera with me to get better shots of the color schemes. The Edge 540 one was different, one I hadn't seen before.

If any one wants to see pics of the warbirds present say so, I'll post them. Only posted the aerobatic planes since this is a forum centered on aerobatic planes.

Don't see the video link. :(

Copied the text for the links to them in my Vimeo account and left the embedded links present. Might be a difference between the forum's mobile and full version. Embedded links not showing up on the mobile version, but they did on the full version.

Cool vids man. Here is one I found a while ago. Guys name is rob holland sick sick pilot. I've seen him fly in person a couple of times and its amazing. In this vid there are torque rolls, hovers, crazy tumbles, waterfalls, inverted flat spin to KE spin to upright flat spin, short inverted harrier, wall to hover I saw in there too. And about 8:50 there is a KE tumble. Sick. Guy is a maniac. Lol. Enjoy.

P.S. Fred from HigherPlaneProductions recorded some footage of Skip Stewart performing at Clover Creek Aerodome '12. The knife edge at the end was incredibly low!

If you saw a blender, didn't you see an inverted flat spin at the end of it?

I have seen an inverted flat spin before...Air Combat Canada used to start their routine with one plane doing an inverted flat spin from WAY up, while the other plane circled around him with the smoke on. Pilot said it was thei most dangerous trick because if the engine quit he couldn't pull out of it and couldn't bail out either.

I would love to see a blender though. I wouldn't have thought that any full scale airframe or pilot could stand those kind of G's.
