91" Extra 300-EXP ARF

Ohio AV8TOR

Just Do It
My DA-70 came in yesterday for my new 91" Wow what a beautiful motor. Did not quite get EF's manual with cutting 2 of the elevator hinges though. First off they do not hit the tube in the stab and you can put a hinge at the back and see it. If it did hit you would need to cut 3 hinges not 2 because 3 are in the area of the tube. Regardless I cut them to be safe.

For those that are using the DA=70 I saw on RCG where Chris said there is a servo cutout in the rear for Push pull for use with the DA-70, is that the setup you did. I think I like push pull better being more direct.

Same here. That must have been from their last version of the manual.

Yeah - I like the simplicity of his setup, but like the physics of the pull-pull myself. I'm sure if Chris H. said the push pull is ok, then it will work. I'm just an engineer by trade and feel better with the pull-pull.

Good luck on your build. Mine is going pretty slowly...

Double check with Matt (@Enterprise)...he has some of these baffles on one of his planes last year, and it appeared that some of the material (white) melted onto his cylinder head making the engine appear white.
Not sure if that is a problem or not, but I do wonder what the heat rating is on this material...
Gary...did Matt ever talk to you about this?

I never had any melting and I just got a 91. Must be thinking of someone else. I only have a set of black ones on my 104, and they have been perfect. Mine were the prototypes, so all the rest are based off my cowling.

Wierd...I remember something going on at the Austin 3DBash...maybe Gary had some on his 104 or his 91?

How's your build going? I got thru all the hinging yesterday and started the fuse this morning finally...

I have both stabs glued and one wing that is it. Visiting my grandson for his birthday right now so no work being done. Have you determined what elevator servo length we will need? The manual says 36" but in some searching I see some use 48". I forgot to measure before I left and I was thinking of ordering while I am away so it's there when I get back. I like to get the heavy 29 awg from Taildragger.

29AWG is heavy, I didn't think so? this must be a typo, right?
