News Great Planes dealers beware

All true. It's almost to the point where I can't place an order with GP anymore because they've lost all the vendors I use to buy. And some of them that I use to buy they now only sell direct to the public via Tower Hobbies. I've gone from 2 orders per week to an average of 2 orders per month. That's all good news for Horizon Hobby though. I've doubled up my business with Horizon.

That sounds exactly like what my buddy is going through. They cannot fill an eighth of an order he makes. Pretty nuts!

Speaking of Horizon, AKNick, I am glad they picked up the FMS line from Motion. I only hope they pick up the Flightline planes soon too. My P38 is a dream bird after I got one that actually worked out of the box. It would be terrific to have the Motion lines with Horizon's great customer service.

Can't say I'm surprised. So many RC companies ran to sell "drones" but forgot to keep their airplane customers happy. My friend's GP Sequence looks pretty but it's another crappy ARF on the inside with gear mounts that suck. The Tower catalog looks like a toy store more than a serious RC modelers catalog. Don't even get me started on how they mostly abandoned giant scale.

Sorry to hear it, there were a lot of great airplane designs sucked in by Hobbico that we'll probably never see again except second hand on ebay.

As much as I hate to admit it, I believe the signs of the times are upon us and closing in rather quickly. Sad thing is that people such as Ellie, Bill, QQ and so many others have gone on to other adventures and now we really don't have too many people left bringing us the really great giant scale. I'm hoping AJ can hang in there and with Tony focusing more on Jets, I fear the best of the Pilot giant scaler are soon to go extinct also. I talked with Tony not long ago and he mentioned that most all the really big planes are just not selling so they are starting to phase them out completely. Maybe all this will generate a whole new generation of builders?

The only bright sight I see is Phoenix Models....but they are being distributed by Hobbico.....hope things over there gets straightened out.
