No work in the shop for me tonight. Guess I need to crash something so I'll have something to work on. :p

Actually I'm fixing to get real busy in the shop the next week or two. My wife and daughter just bought two Siamese kittens. We pick them up in two weeks. So I have a lot of honey dos getting the house ready. Sounds like I'll be building scratching post, cat tree, cat walks and litter box enclosures.

Just for you @pawnshopmike. Pretty much done. Gotta add some bling to the bottom and I'm waiting to hear back from the guy I'm building it for on whether or not he wants the checkered stripe on the top of the wing. Almost time to stuff it. Got a surprise for my buddy as well. He wanted me to put his super tiger 40 on it which would pull it around fine but would lack in power when it came to 3D stuff. Got a killer deal on a very lightly used OS46fx. Still not my ideal choice but way more power than the super tiger. Gonna bolt it on there as a surprise for him.

I've been working on repainting the canopy for my Goblin 570. The white, gray and black was just too hard to see, so I added some color. I saved some of the original pearl white so it will still match the tail boom. This canopy was damaged in shipping so it needed some work anyway.

I started by removing the Goblin logo and the 570 because they were decals that had been cleared over. That left a pretty bad ridge that I had to sand out and prime. After the primer had dried over night I sanded it with 600 and scuffed the rest of the canopy with a gray Scotchbrite and a surface prep paste that cleans and helps sand as you're using the Scotchbrite. After that it was a great deal of masking.

Next I painted everything that was to get new color with silver first. The windshield area was going to be silver and the silver makes a great base for the other colors. After that dried I covered the windshield area, and sprayed the yellow. I wanted the yellow to be pearl so I sprayed over it with silver pearl. When that had dried I covered the yellow areas and sprayed the green. Finally I unmasked everything and gave it two coats of clear. I'm going to have @Decal Dennis make me some Goblin logos and a few other things to add the finishing touches.

If you need something to do in the shop, I have about 8 projects that need to be finished up!!

IMG_4444.JPG IMG_4445.JPG IMG_4446.JPG IMG_4447.JPG I got a few things done today. I rebuilt the engine in a monster glow truck for one of the Snap-On guy's. Assembled a P-47 Jug for my older brother and his son, assembled a RARE-BEAR to test fly tomorrow. Then went night flying with my new night Vision from 9:00 pm to about 10:30. All was fine After a couple flights, until I noticed an intermittent flight control problem with the lights on. I landed immediately to see what was going on. Every thing looked OK until I turned it into the wind and went to check controls service operation and I had nothing, but the lights still worked. After doing some trouble shooting and wiggling the wiring around I found the ground wire to the esc had came loose, bad solder joint. Just moving the connection around the ground wire came out of the connector. WOW!!!
