Next weekend I will be competing at the AMPS-RC IMAC Aerobatic Challenge and Freestyle Competition!!!!!!

I am going to try and get some video of my new freestyle routine. I will be using a cool new maneuver in my routine ( or at-least I think it is new, I have never seen anyone else perform it).

:peace:

That's outstanding Jacob, good luck and get some video.

First off congrats on competing at XFC, Incredible job. So how was the experience for you?

Also it would be neat to have you walk us through the Smack Down flight. But first off what is a ,"Smack Down"? It almost looks like a Hucking/Freestyle session. I would really like to know what you are thinking during his flight. Did go exactly as you planned it?

Do you have screen capture software (camtasia)? It would be cool if you could do a voice over during the flight video and pause after some of the moves and explain what you are thinking as you transition in to the next move. I know it would be a lot of work, but it would be extremely interesting to see. Take care, and great job, AKf

Thank you.

The experience was absolutely incredible. I had an absolute blast and learned a ton.

A "smack down" flight is very similar to a freestyle.

It actually went nothing like I planned. I had some electronics issues with my krill, so I had to fly a borrowed backup plane I had barely flown (it also had a new engine that wasn't broken in). I was very afraid to fly it aggressively and had to completely revamp my smack routine so it wouldn't be too hard on a plane that wasn't mine.

I have a video of what my smack was originally supposed to be like that I might post.

I have some capture software that I can use, I just don't really have the time to do it right now. If you have any specific questions, I would be more than happy to answer them.

“Smack Down†Flight Judging Criteria
The Smack down program is designed to not only push the competitor but to keep the contest fresh, enjoyable to attend, spectate and compete in.

The pilot that completes the smack down flight that is the most entertaining to watch will receive the highest score. Scoring for the smack down flight will be broken down into three scored categories.

Precision 50K: The pilot must at all time, exhibit complete and intentional control of the aircraft. Maneuvers and/or flights that appear to be hap hazard, dangerous, or by chance, will receive a lower score than a more deliberate flight. In this program a crash is not automatically a zero but rather a deduction assessed by completed sequence amount.

Wow factor 50K: the flight shall be enjoyable to watch and push the flight envelope. Sequences shall incorporate new maneuvers, surprises and combinations of maneuvers to enhance the program. This is the category to show off your stuff. A pilot that completes the program with these qualities will receive the highest score.

Wide variety 40K: the program shall have a wide variety of maneuvers and not dwell on any one maneuver excessively. The program shall be balanced left and right of the judges but not need to be balanced vertically or direction of load (positively or negatively).

That explains a lot. For a borrowed plane, you flew it pretty good. What happened to the Krill?

I was having issues with the RX, the ignition, kill switch, and some small stuff. I became a little uncomfortable flying it with out disassembling it to look everything over, which is something I didn't feel comfortable doing at the field.

I ended up also having issues with the ignition and kill switch on the 104 I borrowed.

Jacob I want to thank you publicly for an outstanding job at XFC. I heard you over came a lot of obstacles and still ended up with some great flights. You represented yourself and 3DRCF well and we applaud your performance ON and OFF the flight line. Their is always next year man!
