Which Radio System Is Best?

Anything AM is fine with me

I to have been loving my XG11. I have about a 100 flights on it between several planes. I never really cared about telemetry but since I have it now I really like it. The alarms are setable but the minimum time is 10 seconds. I would like to see that adjustable to 1 or 2 seconds personally. But the radio does store the min and max values of the monitored telemetry that can be reviewed after the flight.

jamesrxx951, are you using the JR sensors for your telemetry?
Have you seen the Unisens-e device? It's a little german made thing that will give you current draw, amps, watts, volts, altitude, vario (for gliders), and even brushless RPM if you want. Pretty nifty device. All for about 75-80 bucks.

I just got one and stuck it into a glider this week. Anxious to go fly it now and try out the Vario function on it.

haha..my friend has a polk..everytime he flew..1 or 2 other planes crashed. We banned him from field till he changed radio. We called it Slatterband techology.

I have only used the JR telemetry. I did purchase a Venom temp gauge to monitor engine temps but that was the extent of it until I switched over the JR DMSS.

My DX-18 has been rock solid for a year now .

The best radio is 1) One that fits your budget; 2) One that has the necessary channels available for your planes (now and in future) 3); One where programming help is available at field or in club (nothing worse than struggling thru poorly written manuals); 4) One where service is available (having to send radio to GERMANY is not what I consider an reasonable option[Unless you live there]) 5) One that won't get you kicked out of your club or field, i.e. Polk!

I first started flying R/C with an Aero Sport 4, which I think was built by Futaba for Hobby Shack, then switched to a Cirrus 5ch and finally settled on the Futaba brand and presently fly with a Fut 8UA. Yes it's a bit long in tooth now but it's more than enough radio for a weekend sport flyer like me and gets serviced annually by Tony at Radio South. It's been upgraded from 72 to 2.4 with a FrSky module and has been rock solid in it's performance.

I've been wondering why there are so many DX9's, 7's and 6's for sale? The new ones too (the black versions) that haven't really been out that long? I'm in the market for a transmitter to do the bind and fly stuff.

I've used JR from the beginning except my very first radio was a Futaba 4 channel FM I think. Then I went to a 5 channel JR with the Circus Circus Hobbies tag on it. Then an 8103, 9303 (FM/PCM), 9303 (2.4), 12X, and now XG11.

I've never really noticed (maybe I wasn't good enough) a change in feel when I went from FM to 2.4, but when I went from DSM2 to DMSS I sure did.. I really didn't expect to but it really does feel much more connected.

I plan to fly everything on DMSS that I can but there's some cool BNF stuff that I want (Whipit, Nano QX.. Etc). That I need a Spektrum compatible TX.
