Scale 25% Krier Kraft build, a tribute to grampa.

So I'm sure you're all getting tired of seeing pictures of the empennage but I'm slowly getting it ironed out. The tail is glued on along with the filler block. The elevator control horn/joiner is permanently in (which I'm sure is going to be fun to cover around lol) and I've got it all filled...

Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

I think that has got to be my least favorite part of building any airplane. It takes for ever and is really easy to screw it up. Just had to shape what seemed like 6 miles of leading edges on my buddies 100cc Extra, and it sucked lol

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

I don't really care for Gorilla Glue for anything but that's a personal preference. A lot of guys swear by it so it could be absolutely fine, I've just rebuilt enough models that guys have used it on that I don't like it. It's rock hard and brittle. Again, that's just my opinion :)

    Hostetler Cessna 336 Skymaster

They will be fine, the shank on the Robart hinges are stronger than they look, just wait till you have to cut one! Lol Also, you have plenty of hinges in the flap to spread out the load. Just make sure you get them glued in with a good quality epoxy or aphetic resin and you'll be golden! I...

Just a few more then we will get back to the Krier Kraft for a while. Can't forget the Full Scales! This was his 1940 Luscombe 8C Deluxe. His was technically changed to an 8A when he put the Continental A65 on it as the original C's have a C-75. The Deluxe was because of the shock mounted...

More of Grampa's other models! His scratch built Whimpy from RCM plans. My dad borrowed this plane from him for a summer once and he oil soaked the snot out of it! lol His Pietenpol Air Camper. He actually built 2 of these at the same time to prove you can built 2 airplanes as fast as...

Okay guys, no pictures of MY Krier tonight but I do have some pictures of Grampa, My dad, Me, and some of my Grampa's planes (so you guys can get a sense of the craftsman he was). Also have some of his Air Force pictures to share. Grampa lied about his age when he was 16 to enlist and go to...

Those pictures are awesome! I can't tell you how much I appreciate having you follow along Earle, you always have really neat stuff to share! I got the tail glued on the Krier tonight and started working on getting everything faired in and finished. Sorry no pictures tonight, my computer is...

Spent this evening finishing up the elevator joiner/control horn and getting ready to glue the stab in finally. I made some bearings for the joiner out of .032 brass strap and cut some slots in the stabs to mount them. I put some 7/32" brass tube in the elevator that will slip fit the...

Yep, Grandpa's had boost tabs on all of the control surfaces. He flew his Krier with Standard Size servos, 1980 standard size servos. Anolog, nylon gears and only about 40oz of torque so they were a necessity. He never stalled one with the boost tabs! I'm not going to put them on mine...

Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Really nice!! I always like it when guys pay attention to the details when finishing a plane. Things like those tiny screws and a nice interment panel just make the whole airplane look better. Top notch work!

With the tail just about ready to be glued in, and tweaking on the stingers I pinned her together to double and triple check the shape..... And cause I haven't seen it put together in a month lol. First off, the new 5 inch Dubro Big Wheels look so much better in the wheel pants than the smaller...

Next up was to start to get the stab fit to the fuse and get a relief made for the elevator control horn. Boy this turned out to be fun! But I definitely think it was worth the hassle! In order to have enough room between the fuse sides for the horn I ended up having to move the stab forward...

The Krier is back on my bench!!! Now that the covering is FINALLY done on my buddies Extra and while I'm waiting for him to get the servos, paint and all the other goodies bought so I can finish it up I got to get back to work on the Krier Kraft. With the wings all but finished and ALL of the...

Here we observe the Pawnshopmike in his natural habitat as he uses wood sticks and glue to form a primitive flying machine. Science still does not know just how the Pawnshopmike has learned these skills, so we quietly watch.

News Thoughts on new 2017 shirts?

I like the "#1 in giant scale" but what about something like, "No Drama just friends" Or "The friendliest place in giant scale" The best thing about this site is the people that contribute to it. It would be cool to put something in the shirts that reflects that :) Just my $10 lol
