Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

Well, after playing with some fitting and talking with a couple guys over seas... Looks like I will skip the cannister and go with a Y pipe with no muffler. Should sound sick and be very simple to setup.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

Thank you, it's been a really fun project. It will be Solartex, stitched and pinked. I'll show details on this as we go.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

No worries.... I actually started it, lol. I'll have more coming with the idea shortly. Time for something new.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

I'd be happy if the planes were just more scale! The Valach 210 will have lots of power, but only turns 4800-5000 rpm.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

Hey Bart, I can completely understand your perspective... And I don't disagree. At the same time, if the full scale guys could make the kind of power that we have... They would! What I've described above, is really not using current IMAC airplanes as they are, but something like the...

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

Thanks Brian. I'm with you. It wasn't about weight... Was just curious for balance. Next will be to make the adjustments for the carb bolt to clear and make the delren bushings, and then the exhaust mount. It will be one integrated module.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

I was curious to what it would weigh. It's 19 0z. To compare, the stock wood mount is 16 oz, and I didn't put the hardwood in it, and needs to be glassed on both sides. In the end... This will actually be lighter.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

I have some interference with one of the carb mounting bolts. I'll have to cut the bottom tube for clearance. I also have to make the delren bushings that will go between the engine and the mount, and between the mount and the firewall. You can see the bottom engine mount not touching the...

Finish welds done and ground with a flap wheel.

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

Next, I'll pull the wood jig, and finish weld the front part of the mount. Then pull the whole thing off and finish weld the firewall mounts. I don't want my plane to burn!

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

Exactly. I used the original motorbox that came with the Kit to set the angles correctly. Then built the ply jig around it to set the angles for the tube steel motor mount. I pulled the motor box and now bolted the firewall mounts and the tube mount for the engine. Next, I'll cut and weld...

Scale MattyMatt's Exclusiv Modellbau 50% Challenger II

So this is fairly scale, and will be a complete module. Four bolts will pull the engine, exhaust, coke and throttle servos.
