Same here. I used to go almost every weekend, but the last year or two is a lot less. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

If the weather is nice on a winter weekend, I'll go out. You? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

OK... Just by holding things in place and getting a rough idea it looks like the headers, cans, carb nozzles, cylinders and everything else I was concerned about should fit nicely. The cans should be here next week, and I ordered some 1/4 inch aluminum plate to put on the front of the firewall...

Down here, those are gazintas. You also have to be careful with the tords. As in.... The prop goes tords the front. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Engine showed up today... Needles on the rear carb are already cut off. The front needles are not blocked.

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

Yep, I hated to see the Moki go, loved the sound, but it was so boring to fly that it wasn't worth the half hour it takes to put it together. When the motor and headers get here tomorrow, I'll learn a lot about the next challenges... Firewall, header adjustments, where to mount the throttle...

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

Lots of sanding and clean-up to do before I put the 3W on, but this should give me a good idea of how much re-work the firewall needs. I'll remove the rudder and stand the plane on its stab against something solid (probably a deck post in the back yard). Then I can sit the motor in place...

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

Now comes some new problems... The Evolution motor had the ignition module bolted to the back side of the engine, on a set of stand-offs to make it clear the rear mounted carb. In order to get the motor mounted, I had to cut a HUGE hole in the firewall. The Pitts came with the original motor...

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

I've had this Pitts finished for almost 2 years, and probably only have 6 or so flights on it. To make matters worse, it's already on its second motor! I started with one of the Evolution 260 radials. Great looking motor, but performance wasn't dependable, and the motor leaked from every...

    Sport Beautifying the Beast

Hangar 9 used a similar method to what you describe to hold the top wing on thier 46% Ultimate... only it was just a sheet metal screw into the metal wing tube. It rattled like a SOB, and eventually would wobble the screw loose. Lots of folks did exactly what you did, insert a wooden dowel...

Best of luck, with the furnace and the airplane. That sounds like a scary situation. How does it happen?

I always thought CompARF took a cheezy path for using their Giles fuse to develop their MX-2... Shows you what I know! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
