Give us some specs...span, weight, displacement...

Do you remember the Duraplane? .40 size glow engine...we towed Multiplex Easy Gliders with one of those.

40% happier than most folks.
Digging a sailplane build here!
Have a Lavoe super V that sits on the shelf for too long most months.

It's an old hobbyshack giant stick. 106" wingspan with a dle55 on the nose. Hope it stays under 20lbs. Was bought the way you see it minus gear and engine. If it flys ok the. I'm gonna strip it add flaps and bigger rons and a smoke system.

Hardwood blocks and triangle gussets were added to the "spine" under the stab mount platform. The holes in the stab mount platform will be drilled on down through these blocks in an upcoming step. Small wood screws and a dowel pin were used to strengthen this whole assembly. A cone shaped bit in the Dremel tool as used to countersink the screw holes so that the heads will pull down flush with the surface of the stab mount. While the glue was setting up on this, we constructed the access hatch door.

Next, we located the steel parts bag and identified the straps for the lower strut attachment. A hex nut gets silver soldered onto one end of these (on the finished model, you insert the end of the strut into this strap assembly and screw in the bolt to hold it in place. The nut is permanently held in place making the assembly process much easier).

Hey Jim,
Love the thread, looking forward to towing it this spring.

Hi Len,

I am looking forward to being behind your Hangar 9 Super Decathlon on tow instead of being in front doing to towing!

Jim
