Aztech Aero EG aircraft 120cc Slick Build log

Rick dazzler

Hey guy's.. reserving my spot for my new build.. I have been drooling over the the EG 120cc line-up
The slick in the "bumble bee" scheme has won my heart over.. Hope to get the plane next week..
For power it will be none other than the EME 120cc.. Plan to try the new EME cans to test in this plane as well.. With the 120 weighing in the same as a DA 120 and almost the same power I think it's gonna be great on the new EG 120cc line..
As always Ahzar is the man! :clap:Couldn't meet a nicer guy to deal with.

Got a SUV full of "slick"
The box's are impressive. 3/4" thick honeycombed card board.. Stiff as a 2x4! I got some box damage but everything inside was perfect

Rick dazzler

As I stated there was some box damage as Greyhound let the Fuse outer box get wet and the carboard collapsed on one one end.. however the fuselage was cradled in THICK styrofoam and the 3/4" honeycomb box was so strong NO damage took place...
The wing box is perfect.
Each wing panel is separated well with styrofoam dividers.. These box's could survive Hiroshima!
Gotta say EG is getting serious about packing their airplanes:thumbup:

More pics..

FIRST.. I will say I am seeing much improvemt from from the EG line here and it seem's they are listening to Ahzar and john on a lot of my past few complaint's on EG airplanes..
1-EG canopy frames are LEXAN. The new plastic is of a MUCH better grade and they implemented some wood underneath to help prevent sun damage See pic's

2. Nylon canopy bolts.. And the canopy fit is pretty decent.

3. EG always does great on their covering and this is no exception. Finish is near PERFECT with no visible scratches or mis-handleing by the factory

4. CARBON FIBER receiver tube's. AWESOME! Also they changed to 2x stab tubes. WAY more strength instead of putting the pressure on anti-rotation pins.

5. CF horns! Good 3k weave too and yes they are real!

6.Pre installed blind nuts in the wheel pant's. I hate putting those in.. Lets get an Amen on that

7.The spat's or fairing's on the LG adds a nice scale touch and adds to the beauty! Notice in the pic the one that goes around the wheel pant is pre-notched!

8. Covering is removed from the control horn hard point's! Another nice touch that saves you time!

9. The control surfaces are huge and this one has more Bevel for more throw than the older EG planes. (My older EG raven and GW sbach weren't beveled this deep)

10. LARGER CF is visible in the new EG slick's fuse and wing structure

I way impressed.. The color scheme is beautiful and I love that EG always seems to go with a more scale outline along with nice non bland same old color schemes. This was well thought out..

Great job to EG and Ahzar!
So far it is looking that EG is getting serious about geting in the market more.. I say ahzar of aztech aero and John @ OMP are on to some good things here!:thumbup::tomcruise::tongue:

Looks beautiful Chad. If I didn't already have an OMP/EG 102" Yak SP-55M I'd spring for one of the all white Slicks.

I'd like to see some improvement (all ARF MFG's) and upgrade the "vinyl" they send out with their planes. The printed graphics on the clear material is probably less costly but it doesn't cut it in my opinion; seems to not stick to the covering very good. What I've tried to use seems to start to peel up along the edges after several weeks.

I'm lucky to have a vinyl cutter from my closed sign shop.. However I get tired of doing it.:) My 104 slick I built last year included vinyl graphics which was a nice touch! I think all should include them.

Got the gear mounted last night...
As you can see the gear block area has blind nut's pre-installed on the main block and the tailgear mount making the gear an easy task to mount:clap:
I used some locktite to tighten the screw's.
Also there is an underside landing gear cover that is held into place with a screw. I used a soldering iron to punch out all the holes where screws went into place..
The landing gear cuffs slide right on and fit 100% great
I will use canopy glue or silicon to hold these into place..
The rudder is hinged with a CF rod going through 2 piece flat hinges

More pics..

I am not sure if I will run my pipes or stock mufflers..
There is an interesting photo of the can tunnel with ply/balsa cross graining laser cut which is an impressive idea on construction strength.
There are two plates included for the tunnel exit area. I used a soldering iron to melt the covering away from the bottom of the plane and on the cut-outs in the plates. Screws are included to install them
Also there are two sets of pipe/canister mount's in different sizes and for the first time the kit actually includes the soft mounts!

Got some more bling in from azhar the bling guy:thumbup:

Got the spot on Flywheelz mounted along with the wheel pants and fairing..
Those fairings look sweet next to the wheel pants. The fiberglass they are made of is much stronger than your normal ARF polyester resin. the cowl is the same way.. I am way impressed:veryshocked:
