Thank you for posting Al, great info there. What I did on mine was to first glue the carbon strips on the foam with epoxy, I then used GG for the sheeting, since GG starts to set up on 15 minute I didn’t want to be messing with the strips while trying to place the sheets on the foam. I tested this method on some scrap foam worked out great. I wish GG would give more time. Wayne Mathews used Elmer’s Ultimate Poly glue and had great results; it works like GG but gives you way more time. May have to look at using this one, but is hard to try something new on something so expensive, YALL KNOW !!!!

Obviously there are different hardeners to change cure time with epoxy. Gorilla glue does not give you much of an option on time. Again this was done just on a piece of foam non vacuum more to see how it penetrated the carbon tow and how well it bonded to the foam. Vacuum will make a big difference and we were doing a simple test. we did not use any sheeting just laid everything on a flat surface and watched what happened.

Primo,

I thought about epoxy to glue the tow down but I wanted to get the full penetration of the gorilla glue through the tow. My thought was that the epoxy would create a barrier ( probable no big deal). The other reason we had two people which make it easier and faster. One on the sheeting the other working on the foam.

Again this was an experiment For us to see the reaction of different materials just on there own and to make sure the tow would bond to both surfaces completely.

Terry does a great job and we have done it that way for years. I've see sheeting done with thinned out tite bond or contact cement out of a spray can. Always looking for a better way. LOL

So I have both wings done now, I drew two lines, one on the fuse and one on the main wing root, this was just to give me a reference point so I could line up the wing. I decided to install the wing hard points after gluing the root cap on so that I could find perfect centering between the vertical fuse trusses. After gluing and trimming the root cap I glued on the LE and TE. Later on I will be drilling two 1/8 holes thru the 3/8th wing root hard point and pin in it to the foam with gorilla glue and a 1/8th inch dowel.
Now I’m ready to set the incidence, to me this is the most nerve racking part of the whole build.

next time you are shaping your leading or trailing edges and need to cut down the material fast try one of the master airscrew razor planes, they work awesome and save you a ton of hassle.

:yesss: What I do is put masking tap on top of the sheeting to make sure it is clearly visible if you start to get close, and also somewhat prevents from digging in. Plane it down close and finish shaping with a 12" block with 80 grit paper on it sanding flush down to the masking tape (sandpaper with scratch the masking tape but not remove it). Remove tape, couple passes with a more fine grit paper and done.

Nice looking build @ROLLERMAN :way_to_go:

Thats excatly what I do, I didn't take pictures of that set up. I do have a razor planer, but is not as wide as the one Kevin posted, I'll be getting one.
