IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

ROLLERMAN

70cc twin V2
Hello guys, well is been a while but here is what I have. I completed the hatch and it is almost ready for painting. Now it was time to start working on the cowl ring. I started by matching the top frame to the front of the hatch. The radii didn’t quite match so I had to build it up some. I put some tape on the hatch to keep me from sanding the primer off. (Apologies for all the blurry pictures, NO Ty it had nothing to do with Tequila). I didn’t have to do anything to the ones on the bottom of the cowl; it was just simply holding them in place with clamps and locating the L tabs.

The rest of it was easy, adding the 6/32 blind nuts, pics will show how I did it.

So here is what I got done during the five days of straight rain down here in the south. Now that I have cowl secured it was time to work on the baffle for the 2000, I used a CD to mark the front, turned out to be a perfect diameter. For the baffles, I laminated two pieces of balsa I had left over from the wings, I used gorilla glue. I made a template from construction paper, I had to go way back and bring back my tape and scissors skills. After cutting the balsa out it was just a matter of sanding here and there to go over the jugs. I glued on some carbon fiber strips to the weakest areas. After I had both sides done I gave then a coat of resign to fuel proof them.

Here are more pics of the baffles painted and located with servo screws. I’m going to cut some small carbon strips and use them as washers; this will keep the balsa from getting crushed with just the screws. I also added an access panel to where I can get to the can mounts for any type of maintenance.

Top baffle plate. I made a template as a reference using the top of the cowl first. Once I was happy with it I transfer it to the 3 1/6th balsa.

Primo,

Looks great! You need to get the guy who paints the tractors to paint your airplane! Either that or maybe Eagle Paint and Body in Grovetown. They fixed my truck at a great rate and I bet if you do all the prep work painting should be pretty reasonable and worth it.
