thanks Jaybird, do you coat the mount in thinned epoxy or use some other sealant? I used thinned epoxy, but its a balance, too much alcohol makes it rubbery and it crumbles. Too little and it's thick and heavy.

Yes I coat it. I have used thinned epoxy like Terry said and I have used finishing resin just because I had it handy. Either one does the trick
I actually bolt it to the firewall and coat mount/firewall all at once. Locks it in place but can be tapped loose pretty easily if it needs to come off.

yea, I sealed the mount with epoxy, it added .18 oz. surprising... that's why i started asking around, I knew it was heavy but didn't think it would add as much as it did.

I like 'em "BIG"!
Thanks for the help guys. If at first or second you don't succeed, try again. Take a look, I think I got it. I was able to shave 3.18oz, the mount now weighs 4.88 oz. This is 1.98oz more than the aluminum stand-offs. Not bad I think, I was shooting for about ~2 oz of weight to balance the plane. The mount now weighs less than the spinner... :)

btw- sorry about the orientation of the images, I thought I posted them right side up. Some are rotated 90 degrees.

Very nice.....

Hi Guys, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the GSN crew.

I've been busy with the family but I got a little time to finish up the motor box wiring, final adjustments on the throttle linkage and even had a little time to cut the cowl exhaust venting. What a PITA that was... I still have some sanding to do to clean up some of the lines on the vents, but OK for now. Once I get the baffles done I'll need to recheck CG, I should be ready for ground testing at that point.
:dancing-chicken:
