    Welcome!

Has anyone ever tried towing banners with RC planes?

Was wondering if anyone here has ever tried it, what works, what doesn't, etc.

Thanks!

Yes, and 20 years ago. It was hooked up to a Midwest Cherokee, and just a small banner that said "Congrats"! Flew it at a wedding. Had to fly ot faster, due to the drag.

We've got a guy at our field that has done it with both a Hamgar 9 1/4 scale cub and also a Hemple Pawnee...it doesn't seem like it needs more power than he already had in the standard setup and it worked great! He made a simple servo driven hook mechanism mounted on the bottom of the plane at or near the CG to attach the line.

I could get more details from him if anyone needs them.

do you know if he used store bought letters and banner parts or if he made everything himself?

thanks for the replies!

Probably wouldn't be to bad if I printed on mesh banner material, be lightweight and possibly less drag.

Would be like this
