This thread will cover the assembly and painting of a custom scheme on a Krill 39% Ultimate.
My flying buddy Tony has been wanting one of these for a while now and decided now was the time. He wanted to order a custom scheme from Krill, but they told him that he wouldn't get it till next summer, so he bought the only one Chief had in stock and we'll paint it.
The airplane got here last week and the night I went over to look at it he informed me that I would be putting most of it together. This particular airframe it turns out has a replacement fuselage. I guess it was damaged when Chief got it and they replaced it. Thankfully we're going to be painting it, because the stripes don't line up very well, and the canopy and cowl bolts are off as well. Plus the rudder is missing a letter on each side.
I started tinkering with it last night. I was able to get the hatch bolts to fit with a bit of careful filing. I replaced the massive factory Phillips head screws with a nice button head and nylon washer, but I'm thinking about using a countersunk flat head instead for a cleaner look.
