slope soaring who does it ? where and what are you flying?

This is one of the machines I'll be flying if the lift will cooperate. Remember what the Wright Brothers said, "Birds soar by gliding down thru rising air." I love that saying.

Here are the two sites we'll be flying this coming weekend. The first is Eagle Butte, with Kiona second. Note that both sites have absolutely excellent landing zones, so you will not tear up your machines on landing.

Sleepy, I did not fly the Antares because I did not think the lift was strong enough for a maiden flight. I did absolutely "dot out" the Hangar 9 ASW-20 yesterday. It was a speck in the sky. Deploying full flaps gets it down from altitude too.

Here are just a few photos from yesterday's action. I hope you enjoy them.
They are Gene Copes Ka8 glider, Allen Smithson's Ka8 E-powered glider, and Glen Reibolt launching Ivan's 1/3-scale Ventus.

Here are some photos of Gene Cope's 1/4-scale Hall Cherokee glider, which is distributed by Airborne Models. This is an excellent soarer, and certainly well-mannered enough for even a beginner pilot to master — that is with a little bit of instruction.

You can order the model here: http://www.airborne-models.com/html/Zproductdetails.asp?ProductID=166
