I did my lowest crankshaft to date... problem was that the throttle servo block broke loose and killed the engine. There was just not quite enough altitude to make it back to the runway.

You know how it goes Mike. We push them hard and sometimes stuff breaks... It is a pretty clean break... wont be too hard to fix. She will fly again soon.

The motorbox just sheared off when it pancaked. Im estimating less than 8 hours to fix it.

Dang it! That's sucks. Glad it's repairable though. How would you rate how the airframe handled the pancake? That's always a very subjective question but one of interest for sure.

Yeah, it does appear to be a clean break, which usually makes the repair easier. I bet that was an awesome crankshaft to see! I don't suppose you got it on video?!

I'll never forget the time I had an old glow engine biplane that was flying great until a servo mount broke loose and I had to just watch it fly away. Had to trek through rough ground for quite a while to recover it. :|

I had a friend out there that was taking some video on his phone but he had put it away by the time that happened. It was totally awesome though.

I imagine this outcome is due to a string of unfortunate events that plane has been through. I suppose it handled it pretty well considering its history. I want to get it repaires right away but unfortunately we are in the middle of packing up for our move to Vegas.
