Scale 18% De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver by MR Aerodesign

Hello everyone, I’ve watched many of you build super cool airplanes in these forums for a long time. Finally, I was inspired to start a kit.

A good friend of mine has a full scale 1961 DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver which is immaculate. Naturally I’ll attempt to model his version, on wheels for now, and maybe floats eventually.

I found this kit on eBay about a year ago and have made slow progress since then. Let’s see how long it takes until maiden flight. Until then I’ll keep chipping away at it.

Here I’ll list the products which have been used, or will be used, on the build. Might be interesting to see how many things change as the build progresses. If anyone is interested in sources, just ask and I’ll try to provide them.

Xpwr 30cc motor - 12S, 214 kV, 536 g

Titebond III
CA - thin and med
Loctite Hysol 9462

Covering:
Glass Cloth - will add the specs
West Systems 105 Epoxy, 205 Hardener

Guidance:
Spektrum DX-9 Transmitter, Receiver TBD
Servos - TBD

Other:
Invisible gloves - F&M Enterprises

Oct. 13, 2023…Arrival day, spreading the pieces out to see what’s there and attempt to find anything missing.

I’m very impressed with the scale landing gear but have no idea why two sets were included.

Oct 23, 2023…first pieces dry fit, glued and tailwheel mounting brackets attached

Nov 24, 2024…Fast forward to the last work session which was framing the right hand wing.
